Agreed. I'm pretty confident in Risto.

Zads is kind of boom or bust for me.

- sbroads24

I think he will do just fine offensively but the defence seems suspect. Maybe that really doesn't matter when we are good.

Yea, myself more than anyone.

I don't like the trade. I like Evander Kane, but he isn't an established All-Star. He potentially is.

The package we traded is something that a player like Hall or Nash is moved for

- sbroads24

I think if you take out Lemieux or the 1st rounder the trade would have looked pretty good to the majority of us. Kane will be a 30 goal guy again. He was playing with pretty average guys. Now he will be playing with Reinhart or McEichel. Thats a big upgrade.

Risto is going to be very good, I'm not worried about him at all. Zads I am not sold on yet, only because I'm not sure he will ever be solid in his own zone. We can teach him the defensive game if he wants to learn, who knows if he ever does.
- BigStew

I know everyone keeps penciling both Risto and Zads together, but it is a possibility that they end up with different D partners.

Maybe Zads could benefit from playing more with a guy like Pysyk. Someone who is reliable defensively and can allow him to freewheel into the offensive zone more often. He would also give him the opportunity to play a more physical game because he won't have to be as worried about getting caught out of position.

Pysyk reads his D partners very well and would probably be a good fit for just about any other guy on his opposite side. I've been pretty excited about him for awhile. Should be fun to see what he can do with that awesome outlet pass with a guy like McDavid or Eichel on the team.

I heard it was Stafford, Armia and Psysk at first but the Jets said no way.

All I know for sure is that Murray said Lemieux was a guy Winnipeg wanted and the deal wasn't going to happen if he wasn't a part of it. Murray said that during his Enroth presser yesterday.

I think it's:

Risto/Bogo
Zads/Pysyk
Gorges/Weber

My Opinion.. unless they bring in someone else.

I wouldn't play them together as I think they will want to do to many of the same things on the ice and I don't think that makes for a good tandem. Put them on then PP together but I would break them up just as you suggest.

I haven't put too much thought into it overall. I just know I like Pysyk. I also think he could end up playing pretty big minutes due to how effortless of a skater he is.

He's got a lot of tools in his toolbox. Nothing jumps out at you at first glance, but if you really look, there's a lot to like there.

Just from what he has done this season. He plays with a chip on his shoulder and if he plays anything like his dad he would have been a very valuable piece to have in the playoffs.

But I'm not someone who hates the trade. I like it. Its crappy we had to give up a lot of potential but I'll take it for Kane who still hasn't even reached his full potential or ceiling yet.

Whenever he says Assistant General Manager, I want to correct him and say that he was the Assistant to the General Manager.

Agreed. I feel the same way. Very similar guys. I think Risto might be a bit better defensively right now and Zads is a bit more physical. Otherwise, they play a very, very similar game.

I definitely agree. I think they need to put an offensive minded D with a sound Defensive minded D.

Then the 5/6 is more of a "shut down" role.

It was posted today that he wasn't signing here according to Tim Chassion, I don't care that they moved him, Darcy " no balls " wouldn't have done this deal. Good to see a hockey trade here for once.

And plays with multiple broken bones and a shoulder that was coming out of the socket 2-3 times a game if not more.

I think the 3rd line role is his money maker. Maybe scratches the top 6 with injury.

we have enough of that "type" of player.

It really wasn't that bad. I've seen far worse on here. As a matter of fact, I'm sure I've seen you reply to things that were much worse than that and with actual thoughts about what the post was about.

I think for the most part our D is going to be very similar between pairing 1 and 2. There will be a decent skill drop to the 5/6 pairing. I think that's actually where Gorges ends up when all is said and done. He'll be a 5/6.
