Willie, is not as big as Claude.. Willie is what, buck 45..
- bixll

Giroux - 5'11 / 172 according to NHL.com

Nylander - 5'11 / 169 according to NHL.com. He's also 18 and likely to still be developing his man body, and likely to end up bigger than Giroux.

When have we ever had a late rounder play any sort of important role? and if you want me to go back to my lifetime, oh buddy, where do i begin?

i remember the jeff wares, brandon converys, Thorontons, pearsons, etc. That's ancient history but it all trickles down the organization (those players could have generated assets,etc)..

Let me flip it around on you...when have we drafted a good player besides Rielly? before you answer, let's just take the last 7 years and where we finished (scrap the seguin/hamilton picks). we were a top 10 team every year but the shortened season...i see nothing that reflects positive scouting

- clark_griswold

Kaberle ring a bell?
Stralman's a beauty now, but couldn't keep him.
Gunnarson is top 4 on one of the best D teams in the league
Ponikarovsky was pretty good for a 4th round pick.
Freddy Modin

not much point going back further than that.

as for the higher picks?

I dunno, Tukka Rask seems decent
Jimmy Hayes is turning into a player.

little early for the last 3 drafts, but there are decent players there. Loov may end up being a real beauty too.

And not one single draft since Dubas and Hunter came, and we created an analytics dept.

I 100% understand and empathize with the cynicism, but lets see these new hires show their mettle first

Everything lists him around 165-175. I think winger with him because he seems like he isn't too aware of his own end. (Hopefully that changes)

Last year I broke the Pinizzotto trade and the Kozun trade. I am surprised you guys don't remember me telling you I told you so. I have some secret friends in the NHL.

If I was your friend I'd keep it secret too.

no, I think he's an asset with great potential and letting him walk or moving him deadline with an expiring contract is a terrible waste of that asset.

goalies going UFA have very low trade value. Goalies signed to reasonable deals or RFA have decent value.

either trade him while he's still RFA, or sign him for 3 yrs at a reasonable rate (under $5M per) and reassess in a couple years.

Is there a chance Nonis will package Rielly and Kessel? My friend says He heard Rielly wants to play in the West
- woopstash

This isn't believable..... And I'm not talking about the part of nonis or Rielly.

Brown and Johnson both went in the 6th or 7th and they're both solid prospects right now.

I'll say Kadri. I know you're not big on him but still. Drafting a 2nd line center is pretty good.
- Aaron_85

7th overall is fine...but seriously...no one in years outside the first round is very, very sad.

The last three drafts the late rounders are still playing in Europe, NCAA and the AHL, verdict is still out on those. It's a wait and see in the next two years on those picks.
