Trade them off, bring up the farm kids.. - bixll
I don't want to ruin Bibeau. let him season in the AHL till he's overripe. I think the kid has the "it" factor to be a starter. |

It's silly to think you can just tear it down and play all ELC players, what will that get you to, 23 million cap floor. - LeafMan
I believe the idea will be to get a roster player + pic or prospect in most deals (if they do decide to tear it down). And by roster player, I mean a guy who can help, but with 1 or 2 years remaining on his contract.
They can't pull a Buffalo. |

jvr and bernier 2 most tradeable guys...we get crap for everyone you mentioned besides Phil.
and sorry but i don't think nazem is a guy you want your youngsters learning from - clark_griswold
Look what we gave up for Bernie. Goalie prices ain't high.
At the deadline, bit players can net you a nice reward. Keep signing and trading guys like Winnik and Santo, and you'll add pieces.
Team will probably net a few firsts, one or two top prospects and a bunch of secondary picks/prospects from the list I mentioned, to go with the picks and prospects they already have, and the guys I said they should keep. They'll be fine.

I couldn't believe the kessel, phanuef signings....I remb getting heat when Kessel was resigned. No doubt he's getting that on the open market.... but still really hard to move a contract like that, say compared to $7M.
mlse needs to stop F***in fooling all their fans and start actually caring about putting a team together. Burning it to the ground (retaining $ and stockpiling picks) saves you 2 years atleast - AlfieisKing

yes...it's not that hard to do...go to aUFA and say ' we stink, but at the deadline you will go to a contender'. Lots of teams do it. Take robidas this year - instead of 3 x3 , say 1 x5 with the move at the deadline. Easier to deal than his bad deal now.
getting to the floor is the least of our worries. - clark_griswold
I know what you're getting at, just having a little fun. Although I would keep the ones 24 and under for a bit like Kadri, Holland, etc.. |

strongly disagree on the returns..and our prospects are terrible (considering). we just have to agree to disagree i guess. |

Funny thing about Phaneuf. Everyone, including the media talk about the anchor his contract is and how hard it is to move. Yet, last season were talking about how he'd get more on the open market and how it was a fair deal.
What the hell? |

Komarov = 3
JVR = 4.1
Gardiner = 4.5
Clarkson = 5.25
There's 16 million already. Not counting what Kadri and Bernier will get.
Hitting the floor will not be an issue, methinks - TheThrill
I think we might even be obtaing some players with large contracts plus a young player/draft choice to fill the roster out, plus guys on waivers etc. I think iceing a team won't be a problem. |

you're not wrong, im just litteraly going for the 21 under/ridiculously young prospects. Sorry but a 2nd liner at best isn't important to me...again we want to be bad and a 2nd line centre is peanuts to acquire. Especially one so one dimensional |

A full rebuild means not committing long term to core, or as I like to say, the METROS, Berny stays if he likes getting qualified for 1 year, otherwise trade em... |

Who cares about the quality of what is coming back? Take picks. Lots of them. More picks/prospects we have the better chances of drafting a few guys to make the team and do well.
I'm tired of people (not necessarily you) talking about needing a top pick and how it essentially be a guarantee he's forever an elite player. Daigle says hello to those guys while he pumps the gas for Datsyuk. |

the rebuild gets described as so easy by some..im planning on 5-7 years. hoping for less with our disaster (lack of prospects, undesireable vets to deal) is banking on more dissapointment. |

Oh I'm a fan of the deal and Phaneuf in general. He doesn't fit here anymore and I hope he goes on to win a Norris/Cup so I can tell everyone who told me "he shouldn't be in the league" to suck it |

I'm more concerned with a winning culture that starts at the developmental level, so guys drafted later can become something... |
