Quite possibly our next captain - Bigzby
If we do this full rebuild and if Polak is still with us then I wouldn't mind him being named Captain. He has the warrior in him to lead by example for the kids. |

true...but JVR and bernier are very tradeable. we are keeping at least some dead money in clarkson etc..and we will fill out a team. But if we keep jvr and bernier, the rebuild takes MUCH longer. those are 2 of the most tradeable guys we have - clark_griswold
Yup, plus the METROS have to go... |

Kessel, Phaneuf, Bozak, Lupul, Franson, Winnik, Santorelli, Reimer all gone for picks and prospects. If the team is bottom-10 consistently with those guys, then moving them and replacing them with bit parts will guarantee us at least one bottom 3 finish.
And most of these full tear down rebuilds fail because the young guys get ruined early by playing on a bag team with nobody to guide them. - Feeling Glucky?
jvr and bernier 2 most tradeable guys...we get crap for everyone you mentioned besides Phil.
and sorry but i don't think nazem is a guy you want your youngsters learning from |

He is too lazy, that is not the coaches fault... Whole top line needs to be gone... - aminnes
Get a coach who will push them to be better, not Carlyle who tried teaching defense for 16 games and then said "(frank) it just try score lots". |

Then you want to go the signing over paid UFA's for a year route to fill in to get to the needed cap floor. |

More I think about it, the more I think Reimer is actually the better choice in a scorched-earth rebuild.
Bernier hurts the tank more, AND has better trade value. |

I couldn't believe the kessel, phanuef signings....I remb getting heat when Kessel was resigned. No doubt he's getting that on the open market.... but still really hard to move a contract like that, say compared to $7M.
mlse needs to stop F***in fooling all their fans and start actually caring about putting a team together. Burning it to the ground (retaining $ and stockpiling picks) saves you 2 years atleast

It will all spend on what comes back... no team is taking Kessel's 8 without giving back something similar salary wise, every term is either capped out or at their internal number save a couple... |

League would love it, more revenue to share lol
(I know that number is impossible) - Bigzby
League won't even allow it. You still need to ice a somewhat competitive team.
Buffalo was looked at about purposely tanking for the top pick. However, signing guys like Gionta and getting Gorges helped show they aren't going for the top pick directly.
Moving out players for injured or getting less quality (lindback) near the deadline seems to be fine though. |

yes...it's not that hard to do...go to aUFA and say ' we stink, but at the deadline you will go to a contender'. Lots of teams do it. Take robidas this year - instead of 3 x3 , say 1 x5 with the move at the deadline. Easier to deal than his bad deal now.
getting to the floor is the least of our worries. |
