Keeping 7 or 8 guys in needed, there is a cap floor. You can't replace everyone with an ELC player. - LeafMan
Isn't it amazing how, after the nuke, we will laud Clarkson's contract for helping get us to the floor

Give him two years and tell him to show he deserves a big time deal - Canada Cup
That was the conversation with him during the last contract when he wanted big money but didn't get it. Kadri hasn't shown that he deserves big money and term. He still has upside but how long do you wait for it? If you give him the money and term he wants and doesn't get any better then your stuck with him. I would only keep him if for some reason the offers they get are horrible. Sign him for two years and try to trade him next year. |

He's actually a great player if on ice performance and contract become irrelevant. |

It's silly to think you can just tear it down and play all ELC players, what will that get you to, 23 million cap floor. |

I agree.
I'd 100% move JVR he'll get a sexy return.
Remember fellas the we're nuclear storming this roster. - Bigzby
Plus, as much as his deal is great compared to production, he is a huge liability defensively, floats far too much, and therefore part of the entitlement culture... |

Komarov = 3
JVR = 4.1
Gardiner = 4.5
Clarkson = 5.25
There's 16 million already. Not counting what Kadri and Bernier will get.
Hitting the floor will not be an issue, methinks |

Clarkson will be one of our vets for a long time. - Jeffmt
The only way Clarkson gets traded is if we trade a good prospect to go along with him to sweeten the pot. the return would be awful but we get rid of a contract, and also a good prospect. |

true...but JVR and bernier are very tradeable. we are keeping at least some dead money in clarkson etc..and we will fill out a team. But if we keep jvr and bernier, the rebuild takes MUCH longer. those are 2 of the most tradeable guys we have |

A rebuild makes his contract pretty irrelevant, and I'm pretty sure that's what you're getting at. I think he's probably a good guy to have around a young team, insane contract notwithstanding. I'm not concerned about Clarkson at all if they're going to tear this down. |
