On Free Agent Frenzy days, would you rather have a $5M Cody Franson, or a $5M Brooks Orpik?

Hate to break it to your leaf haters, but Franson is exactly the type of player you want running your powerplay. His shot gets through, and it can also be tipped.
Off the powerplay, he generally plays effective minutes.

On a better team, with better systems, and a better partner paired with him, he would actually look pretty good

If you worked at a Target store in Canada right now, would you be working your ass off

Leafs Lunch TSN 1050

Franson deal will likely occur sooner than later. Expect him to fetch a 1st + prospect. 3 teams offering a conditional pick if he resigns, could see his value increase drastically if he resigns.

Who is going to pay a 1st + Prospect and a conditional 2/3rd for a signed Cody Franson?

- PeterIng

Wonder if the Leafs will give permission to the teams interested in talking to his agent for $$/term he wants to finalize a deal.

Shane Doan?
Funny thing about Leafs Nation: that guy is pulling exactly what we all hated the Muskoka Five for.

Doesn't care about winning - doesn't want to help the team - only cares that he has a comfortable life, will veto any trade. Why should I care that his kids are happy in their school?

Sound familiar?

Ya I saw that special in TSN about how he's never leaving his ranch, even if it means playing for a contender and winning a cup, a bit of a bum IMO...

Like I said yesterday, it is very clear they are testing individual players metal, seeing how they react and how they play upon coming back, I think this is all part of a plan to weed out who they feel might still have some character, and bump the rest, I don't believe this will be a full tear down...

Pretty sad when your 4th liner is the best player on the team the last month or so

I think Kadri has been the best by a decent margin

For me, to not want to leave your ranch for 6 months to go and try and win something we've all dreamed of our whole lives makes him a bum IMO...

Rielly, Santorelli, Winnik, Kadri and Panik. In that order.

Honourable mention to Polak for giving a poop every shift.

Seems weird that you think someone is a bum because they don't share same values as you. I would think that someone who works hard, is a leader and commits to his community and family is far from a bum

I'd really like to see the Leafs sign him for a good contract.

He's in the NHL, doesn't care if he wins a cup unless it's near his precious ranch that will always be there even after he retires, so ya he's a bum IMO... In case you haven't noticed I'm not talking about his family and crap, don't care, he plays in the NHL, thats the relation, doesn't matter for you, fair enough...

Rumours are he wants Mason Raymond money. For a team that is now said to be rebuilding probably better to get the pick for him now.

He doesn't even need to leave for 6 months! Like 3 if he goes at the deadline.

i was saying i believed they were tanking before the season on purpose. Kept the same core, signed scraps. kept same coach etc. we finished bottom 8 last year and signed the bottom of the barrel UFAs..i do fully believe shanny was trying to tank and still is. just not so obvious about it; but come on he kept the same team with a few tinkers that sucked for 3 of the previous 4 seasons. a full rebuild IS coming.
