Serious question: who in the league would Leafs fans actually think is good enough to play in our top 6?
Crosby is a whiner.
Toews doesn't score enough.
Ovi is more one-dimensional than Kessel.
Thornton disappears in the playoffs.
Forget about any Euro.
Giroux is too small.
Yet Komarov is a god.
Leafs Nation has this giant chip on our collective shoulder - this weird working class hero crap whereby we resent any guy with elite talent - he simply isn't good enough for us - we know hockey, why my brother's best friend had a Junior A tryout!
But we embrace the dime-a-dozen "hard workers" because they are "just like us."
And yet we all wonder why nobody wants to play here. |

Good skating ability, decent first pass and hope that he improves.
Personally I only see an unproductive, unreliable offensive defenseman who's hope of improving to justify his contract are getting smaller every year.
But that's just me, I've been wrong before. |

Good skating ability, decent first pass and hope that he improves.
Personally I only see an unproductive, unreliable offensive defenseman who's hope of improving to justify his contract are getting smaller every year.

Maybe. Eakin is our best shutdown forward and is capable of 40-50 pts. Still only 23. He's having an off year but I would still trade him for D help.

When was the last time a guy entering his prime as a top 10 scorer for the past 5 or so years was available?
Somehow people think the past 6 weeks, when it is clear the entire team is a train wreck, is a horrible indictment against Kessel.

exactly. Look at toews, tavares etc. In desperate situations, they dig deep (block a shot, hell get in a fight). Phil just keeps skating in circles, shooting from the perimeter and putting his head down on the bench.
doesn't have to be a leader ALL the time, but man his game never elevates. |
