I think regardless of what happens with Nonis, we are in for a pretty bad couple years.
We are all on board with tanking and shedding as much of this dead weight as we can. the reality is that we are going to get very little that is exciting or interesting in return. Draft picks aren't going to keep us entertained for at least a few years.
If they do this right, I think I am going to have to pick a new team to cheer for for a while. - Aetherial

oh great another guy with no NHL front office experience. - DoubleDown
At some point, that is the next step if that is somewhere he wants his career to go. He is obviously a quality hockey guy. It wouldn't be a mistake.

Ageing is open to anyones interpretation. A 31 year old player is not old in my opinion. And An almost 30 goal pace isn't 30 goals and it means nothing until you see how many he finishes with. Maybe 20/25... - Mr_Smokey
ok. all im saying is that Toffoli has more value than Lupul. i think a lot of people would see it that way too. Lupul is still a decent player when healthy, but he's completely unreliable. i would not want my team trading for him because you can't count on him to be there for you when it matters. |

Habs ? - bixll
I was a Habs fan as a kid, especially the teams with Savard Lapointe and Robinson on defense I don't think I would be a Habs fan now.
I would be a Winnipeg fan if it wasn't for the logo.
I am thinking maybe Calgary or Colorado.

Toffoli is younger, better, cheaper and more durable.
There is no comparison.

I like the Avs and the Pens are good to watch. As long as they are entertaining games. |

my post stated exactly what you are saying..shanny has a lot of connections and help around him to make these big decisions on players..ie Dubas,Hunter..plus friends like Rob Blake ect.......... - Daddichronic
Nonis is the liaison at this point I think. He's the one with connections and history with other GM's. From what media tells are its a bit of an old boys club. Nonis is one of them. Let him be the face, and the brain trust be the brains... For now.
But I don't expect Nonis to be here next season. Nor do I think it would b wise to fire him right now. He's got skin in the game already. No point putting someone in who's behind and lost he legwork he's done. |

I completely agree with you, Toffoli has more value than Lupul. My point was Phaneuf with a basically free Lupul for their 1st and Toffoli... Of course LA likes Lupul if most of his salary is retained. |

I want him as a coach, not in the front office. I'm pretty sure you can't do both. |

Id root for a western team. Most likely one of the California teams or the Hawks. Colorado is a good option too. That said, I'll likely just keep rooting for the Leafs as patiently as possible. (frank) the rest |

Phaneuf has more value than Richards ... If I may jump in.
lupul for Tofoli straight up agree no point for LA to make that trade..
,but that is not the trade being suggested |

The trade suggestion was ridiculous.
Richards and a 2nd for Phaneuf is closer to reality.
If LA still believes they have a playoff spot available then the leafs may squeeze a 1st out of them in that deal, or in a straight up Franson rental (depending on who is bidding).
