So Drouin is somehow a lock to be a top line player? Is that what you are saying?

Jets hit a home run here i think. Kane is overrated and is a dressing room cancer. He had one 30 goal season and everybody thinks he's a stud. I recall another player that had a 30 goal season by the name of Clarkson, he's really working out well for the leafs huh? Not to mention he's always injured. Sabres basically got Bogo and a question mark for a huge package including a defenseman everybody in the league wanted that was said to cost the moon and the stars in Myers, and a first rounder in the deepest draft since 03. Time will tell who won this trade but right now it sure looks like Winnipeg got the better end of this one.

I know this wasn't directed at me but his posts were mirror images of my arguments. I'm not saying Kessel doesn't have value much less more than Drouin. However, to Tampa and our current roster plus prospects not even here yet, Kessel doesn't fit in Tampa and the longer term implications of acquiring him do more harm to retaining the current core and young star power.

What you guys don't seem to understand is Tampa is a VERY young team. Over the next few years that youth is going to need new contracts and in the case of Hedman and Stammer quite large contracts. Acquiring Kessel would greatly impact our ability to keep much of that youth. You guys are trying to tell us that Kessel would somehow put us over the top yet somehow you are continuing to ignore our biggest need (and thus our best chance at truly getting there) which is RHD. Period, end of story.

There are huge question marks in Drouin's game. He's a longshot to reach Kadri's value and people don't seem to realize that.

What'S kadri's value.... drouin in is a work in progress and has way more upside than kadri. oh and clarkson.. just needed to lol at that mess. Dale Weiss is a league ahead of Clarkson and about 4 mill cheaper...

That said there are 2 teams that no matter what players they bring in, it won't help. Leafs and oil need to rethink and retool the culture and personnel in their head offices. No player will save those teams, the product is decent, it's the development and culture that sucks for both teams.

If you were Stevie Y what is your goal for this year? Make the ECF? Stanley Cup Final?
What is your goal for the next 3yrs? Win at least 1 SC make the playoffs every year, retain Stamkos and Hedman.

Young players are good and all but this team has objectives and ways to meet them. Can't get significantly better by giving up garbage.

For Drouin? Honestly I don't see a fit although Rielly would be enticing. However our bigger need is RHD so there is that factor as well not to mention I doubt very seriously Leafs would part with Rielly

Sorry by value I meant on-ice production, I made it seem like I meant trade value. Drouin is a long ways off a 50P season or from being a decent top line player in the NHL. Still a every good chance Drouin busts. Kadri is there already which is all I really meant by that. So sure more upside in Drouin but there is also a ton more risk.
