Not yet he isn't. Besides the deal wasn't for Kessel.

Don't have to be the better player today to have more trade value. Also there are leaf fans trying to pitch that all throughout the comments here.

Seriously? The Bolts are not going to trade Drouin.

If a deal with Toronto was worked out what would you see it go down as?

You sound like a used car salesman desperate to make a deal.

There are far potential fits for kessel than TB

- Tumbleweed

I'm not desperate at all, I don't even want Drouin that much. Find it hilarious that TBL fans would balk at adding Kessel though,

In all honesty I don't see them as good trade partners for anything big. Maybe Franson for a pick or pick and mid prospect

For Drouin? Honestly I don't see a fit although Rielly would be enticing. However our bigger need is RHD so there is that factor as well not to mention I doubt very seriously Leafs would part with Rielly

Cuz when your forced to trade someone for cap reasons you always get great value. It still doesn't make sense to pull the trigger on that kind of deal Tampa doesn't have any cap space today either will force them to make immediate moves to reduce salary .
- jbs32

No one would be forced to do anything and you're acting as if keeping Kessel would be some doomsday scenario. A lot would change over the next 2 seasons and whoever has Kessel's rights will have the option to move him whenever they want.

Why? He's lazy out of shape doesn't play D and really hurts the team long term. Helps their offense but they already lead the league there and makes them great short term. But it'll cause long term issues

His logic is Tampa already has players who need to play not playing and acquiring Kessel doesn't help that situation one bit. Losing players on waivers and keeping them from playing so.they don't develop does not help the lightning. Kessel to Tampa does not make sense they just don't have the place for all those forwards in the lineup or for his contract under the cap now or in the future
That's what is being said nothing about Kessels trade value. He does not fit in Tampa it's that simple I don't get why it's so hard to understand

- jbs32

If they aren't playing they don't need to play; that's illogical as well.

If they have Kessel and resign Stamkos Kessel or Hedman will have to go for cap reasons. I'm taking Hedman every time. Or lose 2/3 of the triplets who have been one of the top lines in the NHL. They will lose significant pieces to stay under the cap hard to argue that

LOL.

Kadri and Franson for Drouin?????

We don't need Kadri almost as much as we don't need Kessel. Namestnikov is buried in the minors but more than NHL ready but with our depth we have no room

Or trade Kessel and geta prospect back like Drouin to help the cap situation. The rigidness in this viewpoint is ludicrous, Tampa can create flexibility and if they are planning on contending for awhile they'll have to find ways to create flexibility anyways.

You're nuts if you think a guy that's done nothing in the NHL yet has more value than someone like Kessel. Eventually, maybe, but not yet.

Besides, my comment had nothing to do with Kessel, I was responding to that fact.

There are huge question marks in Drouin's game. He's a longshot to reach Kadri's value and people don't seem to realize that.

If he wasn't lazy effort wouldn't be an issue. How is it so hard to believe that a good young team doesn't want torontos players?

Effort isn't an issue with Kessel, can you stop making things up.
