If it weren't for Bogo's injury issues, it's not even close. Bogo over Myers 7 days of the week.

Well, not only his fault...but he is definitely part of it!
I read a few very good articles a while back about Myers. The guy just plain sucks at both ends of the ice. Jets will find this out very quickly.

I dont mind Bogo but all the Drug rumours and injury prone seasons he has had, his time was running out. Him and Myers have the same output offensively but Bogo is playing in a much deeper established Top 4. I think Myers is going to be great on the 2nd pairing.

I just have watched Bogo more than Myers sinec Jets are in the Avs division. Wasnt the biggest fan of him, but still a good Top 4 guy signed long term with an ok cap hit. Not a bad guy to have. Just have this feeling Myers is going to take his game up a notch now

Same could be said for Buffalo.

Myers was ridden hard by many. The fansbase was split on him.

We couldn't wait to get Stafford out of here.

IMO - Jets risked a lot on that "feeling".
I really thought the Jets would get more back for Bogo and Kane. It's not often you see a trade with a ton of pieces moved and 2 of the best pieces are going in one direction.

Oh for sure.

BTW...I like the deal for the Sabres also. I think you guys will love Kane...and Bogo.

For the Jets there was some addition by subtraction. Kane didn't get along with several teammates so he had to go. Getting Stafford allows Buff to go back to D which is where he prefers.

The Jets next move is to trade Postma and its new first round pick for Vermette, or maybe a bit less for Winnik. Maybe Eberle. They really still need one more LW to finish the puzzle. They are not done.

IMO, this is a hockey trade, no clear cut winner/loser.

Stafford is very streaky. I will say that. I don't know how well he will fit in the west. He is not the most physical guy and its frustrating because he is a bigger guy.

I'm going to call Myers and Bogo a wash.

Kane is obviously better than Stafford but the Jets hands were tied. The Jets did well....as did the Sabres.

Actually Kessel for Drouin doesn't make sense
- uf1910

It makes perfect sense..Tampa is number one in the east and would love a threat like Kessel up front ..drouin is doing much now for them but will mature into a star..seems like a win win

You are assuming that everything stays the same when change is one of the few constants in our world. I agree they are not interested in taking on bad or hindering contracts but they are definitely looking at adding talent and winning now to retain Stamkos. When you say Kessel doesn't fill a need just go ahead and give your head a shake, simply not true.

Again you have no idea what it would cost to acquire Franson and Kessel, you are assuming that the price is too high. If the value didn't make sense they just wont make the deal as Stevie Y is a shrewd hockey man but they should be interested in the players. And lastly the salary cap implications are being vastly overstated it would be a very manageable situation with years to figure it out.

- Lipchitz

Ok first off you are the one making the assumption that Kessel would line up with Stamkos. That doesn't make sense b/c you have 2 snipers on the same line

Secondly, our RW depth chart in no particular order is as follows
Calahan
Kucherov
Connolly
Paquette (C/RW)
JT Brown

Now That being said Brown does have potential to become a 3rd liner/shutdown type of guy. Calahan is the vet leader and top 6. Kucherov is an emerging stud and top 6. Connolly is mainly potential right now but we don't have a slot on a scoring line for him to realize that potential so he's playing on the 4th line with Boyle and Morrow. Paquette seems to have found a home on the 3rd line (for now) with Drouin and Killorn. Brown is a bottom 6 forward but with our depth we have a rotating scratch deal (unless we have an injury) where either Brown, Connolly, or Morrow are scratched each night. So again I ask, WHERE IS THE NEED FOR TAMPA TO ACQUIRE KESSEL?

Regarding the cost to acquire Kessel. I never said the cost was too high. I said the cost was TOO HIGH FOR TAMPA B/C KESSEL DOES NOT FILL A NEED FOR US.

I'm not even going to go further into the salary cap discussion b/c it isn't worth the time to argue something you clearly don't know or understand so lets just agree to disagree regarding Tampa's cap now and in the future and you focus on your Leafs cap now and into the future

Don't really see any issue with this trade. Myers was never gonna work out in Buffalo no matter how many delusional Sabres fans tried to convince themselves otherwise. Stafford sucks and they traded two prospects thay we don't really know if are gonna work out for two guys that are more established. Yeah it might be overpayment but Buffalo was (frank)ing loaded with trade material and it's about time they actually did something with it.

We won't know who will come out on top for a year or two because of all the Draft picks buffalo has coming this season. And even then the Sabres are still stupidly loaded with prospects as it is so the fact people are saying Buffalo got screwed by this is laughable at best.

I say it will bite you guys in the ass:

Bogo = Myers

Kane = Armia, Lemieux and late 1st

Winnipeg instantly becomes better by not having Kane around (bad attitude and out for season) and they add quality prospects. Murray and the Sabres had nothing to gain in rushing, they lost big on this one.

Did Myers ask for a trade ?

- J-P

Murray stated at the presser after the trade was official that he had told Chevy when he worked in Ottawa that if either player was to become available to call him...Murray wanted both and got them. Murray making it happen now does benefit him because there was less competition now then at the draft when there could be 10 teams vying for Kane and the price goes up. Chevy wants the playoffs now and Myers and Stafford will help the cause with a change that was long overdue for both. Bogo will not make the Sabres go on a big win streak and a AHL slug will be brought up to replace Stafford which just helps the cause to finishing 30th and being guaranteed Eichel at worst.

Myers didn't ask to be traded but he never figured in Murray's plans from the start.

Wow, please read my other posts regarding this subject

Regarding the need for a "threat" up front? Last time I checked we have a guy named Stamkos playing for us and last time I checked he qualifies as a scoring "threat". And even with one of the top goal scorers in the game we have 10 players who have scored 10 or more goals this year which I believe is tops in the NHL. And even with that alot of our talent up front is young and either on their ELC's or 2nd contracts yet are producing numbers like what I listed above. And to top off our lack of need of a scoring threat, Tampa currently leads the NHL in goals scored. Oh yeah, we are doing this with our best forward prospect (Drouin) playing limited minutes in a bottom 6 role.

So, please tell me why Tampa needs a scoring "threat"?
