This was a fun trade, it had a bit of everything. Kane will like Buffalo, there are many people like him there so he will be able to blend in. Meyers is tall though.

Are Bogo and Myers basically in the same situation, needed a change, neither of them is bad, neither of them anything too special? I'd say Myers has more up-side.

Kane for Stafford, prospects and a pick?

I'd say Winnipeg won that deal, but if Kane and McDavid have chemistry, that might wash it out.

It's still a BIG assumption that Buffalo ends up with McDavid. I have a funny feeling it's not going to happen.

I think Winnipeg wins this trade, Myers is a better player
than Bogosian.

If this lights a fire under Evander Kane then the Sabres have a a 1st line power forward that can score 30+ goals. That's something that Stafford won't bring or likely any of the other picks and that 1st round pick.

However, if Stafford resigns (which is possible his hometown of Milwaukee is right across the border). Although if that's the case then the Wild make the most sense; Pominville already there. I'd have to say IF he does resign then the Jets will certainly win the trade short term. But long term we'll see. You'll be able to revisit enough times.

Jets hit a home run here i think. Kane is overrated and is a dressing room cancer. He had one 30 goal season and everybody thinks he's a stud. I recall another player that had a 30 goal season by the name of Clarkson, he's really working out well for the leafs huh? Not to mention he's always injured. Sabres basically got Bogo and a question mark for a huge package including a defenseman everybody in the league wanted that was said to cost the moon and the stars in Myers, and a first rounder in the deepest draft since 03. Time will tell who won this trade but right now it sure looks like Winnipeg got the better end of this one.

I think Winnipeg gets the better end but I wouldn't say any team loses. Buffalo is taking a huge risk with Kane though. I feel as if Kane will take over the Buffalo locker room because of the lack of vets on Buffalo. They do have some but come net year how many will still be there? There won't be anyone to put Kane in his place.

That is the thing people judge trades in the present when a lot of trades have future implications. Does Kane Smarten up? Does Myers live up to the 1st round pick he was? Do any of the prospects pan out? There are too many questions to out right say which team is better off with the trade. Even so just because one is better off, doesn't mean the other isnt as well. Some trades help both teams

Team Need? Does that term have any significance to you. If we spend the necessary cost to acquire Kessel we wouldn't have (or be willing to move) the pieces to get the piece we really need which is a RHD. So we would make a big move at a position we have too much depth to begin with and not address our real need which would go the furthest to help us win games, which is what your "reasoning" for making this trade was in the first place. The salary cap issue would be a hindrance down the road and even if we did fit Stammer and Hedman deals with kessel it would surely cost us guys like Palat and others who would be hitting UFA years. Sorry man but Kessel isn't coming to Tampa.
- uf1910

trying to sell kessel to Tampa is like trying to sell oil from the Alberta oil sands to the Saudis.

there is a market for kessel, but Tampa is not part of it.

Totally agree. Buffalo actually has an 80% chance that they will end up with Eichel even if they finish last. Check out the simulator.

You are assuming so much it's astounding. Here is an idea take Cody Franson as well, RHD and one of the top scorers in the league. Dump some salary on TO and make it work, hell for the right deal the Leafs would even retain some cap to help TB out.

So now he's pitiful and gets out muscled by little guys but yesterday he was worth Mantha, Tatar and a first?
- HealthyScratch6

First say that to someone that was a Tyler Meyers fan...not me. Show me where I said what he was worth otherwise aim your comments towards someone who said he was worth those players. I'm happy as hell he is gone
