Bob MacKenzie tweeting that Buffalo is pushing hard to get an Evander Kane deal done now.

He would look good with Eichel or McDavid

I think if G scores on that breakaway, we win... Tons of moves and had price beaten.. just didn't lift it high enough.
- Hextall271

G would be the first to agree with you that he should have scored there. He was pretty disappointed about it.

Thought Voracek would have scored on the 2 on 1 if he lifted it a bit more.

Laughton's post.

Stuff happens like this vs good goaltending.

- Marc D

Yea they had their chances early on, and sometimes things dont go your way... but outside of the first period, the chances were few and far in between. Great defensive team, with stellar goaltending. Tough team to play altogether.

But lets face the facts.
Mtl is 18 pts ahead in the standings for a reason. They are a superior team.

This is what I thought too. They had plenty of chances last night, especially early.

Problem all year with this team. Hard time finishing which ultimately leads to having a hard time putting teams away

Same can't be said about the Habs?

The Flyers had a very good first period. They were very technical. Aside from that they were very outplayed, especially the entire 2nd half of the game.

The Habs (who are notoriously slow starters) woke up, and progressively put it on the Flyers. They adjusted, upped their forecheck, moved the puck diligently and sucked the wind right out of the Flyers. They hit the post 2 times, and Ray Emery had a hell of a night. Flyers had a bunch of good scoring chances but were severely outplayed. The Habs also had a ton of good scoring chances, and severely out played the Flyers.

Simply put: The better team won.

- jak521

I don't disagree. I'll make my point clearer. Even though the Flyers were drastically outplayed, they still had a chance to win the game. Giroux and Couturier both had breakaways, Giroux and Voracek had a 2 on 1, Laughton hit the post on a line rush. Which is why I said that they could've won but still would've been outplayed. The best team, either overall, or in a specific game doesn't always win.

Habs are all about speed, you need a good mobile D group to counter that. Once in their D zone, Habs aren't as good, you just got to solve Price...easier said than done most night. Not sure that will be enough in the playoffs but it works most night during the regular season
- Symba007

what impressed me the most, and it's not even a skill thing, is that the habs attack the net with players who don't have the puck on almost every O zone possession. there was someone in emery's face all night. i don't recall that kind of play from the habs really just about ever.

they are quick to get the puck up and out, move it well, and always seem to get to the loose pucks. but we're used to seeing that from the flyers. just about every team beats them to pucks in their own zone all game long. to me, it's their biggest problem. they spend way too much time in their own end chasing. wears them down and limits offensive rushes the other way.

Suprisingly, Giroux didn't make a good pass there and handcuffed Voracek.

Again principles of Jets-Sabres deal: Myers Stafford Armia and Lemieux plus a first for Kane and Bogosian. Could be other elements.

Yet in the previous game, against the Caps, it was completely different. Flyers won all the battles and controlled the game. They are capable, yet inconsistent. I agree they spend too much time defending, which leads to a dump in to change, and the cycle starts all over. Never get to establish a forecheck.

They would not be including their own first in the deal

The trade now helps their tank for Mcdavid even more.

Which is what you are saying I think
