Resign him for 2 years with a modest raise. That's a given, imo

That's about what I see. He's a good soldier who's fairly versatile. Kind of like a Raffl-lite.

I only got to catch the 3rd period and OT but the last period reminded me of how the Flyers played "not to lose" rather than try to put it away.

When Emery plays that we'll you got to get him some goal support.

Not sure what I find more interesting. Emery 's play or the lone goal coming from, of all people, Matt Read.

- MatveiDmitrii

Yeah for Read! Man he's been snake bitten this season. It was so nice to see him get one.

Agreed. I think he's solidified his place centering that 4th line. I like the Frenchy...

One other thought, I'm really missing Raffl on that top line. Brayden Schenn is just not fitting in, and neither Giroux or Voracek has played well of late.
- Jsaquella

I had a game last night at 10:45 (woof) and we talked about that in the locker... Honestly, and its not that I am giving up on Schenn, but he simply does not cut it with those two on the top line.

If I got a good offer for him.. I wouldnt blink.

I agree... I think it's something that has become a ritual, and really not much more. At home, I usually flip the channel or leave the room, and when I'm at a game, I kinda just blank out... Sorry.. I've had numerous family members serve, and I work with active and ex-military every day for my job... I am NOT "unpatriotic", I just don't see it's point anymore at a sporting event.

Again.. no offense to anyone.. but it personally means nothing to me anymore. It is not a measure of my pride in my country, nor my patriotism. It's simply a ritual anymore. Who (other than maybe vets) actually stands there reflecting upon our freedom, the sacrifices made to secure our freedom, etc when it's playing? Don't lie... I'd bet most don't... they're checking out the hot girl singing, or looking around wondering who has the good smelling food, or watching the flashy lights, or looking around the arena at the banners, or wondering "wow.. that jumbotron is really big and is only held up by a few cables"..

- WarriorHockey21

They should sing national anthems when nations are playing against each others, like at the Olympics or the World Cup. Not for matches between professional clubs.

I think that Lecavalier has been playing well, getting in on the forecheck, making plays with the puck, working hard on the backcheck and in the defensive zone. I don't see him as a cinder block they're dragging along, but rather a part of a line that has been effective.
- MJL

I think that's more of a product of his line mates, but that's just me. No way should Vinny of even been out there in OT unless half the team is injure or in the penalty box...

MDZ did have a rough OT. But he has been playing a lot of minutes recently. Played 25 last night. Someone who plays that much and touches the puck as often as he does will make mistakes here and there. He isn't a Drew Doughty. However, I still think he's a piece to build around and want him kept at all costs unless someone throws a 2015 first rounder at me. He's been a huge bright spot this year.

What does everyone thing about trading Streit and B Schenn to the Jets for Kane? This would be my offer to them. I feel as though Streit's stock is at its highest right now.

See I disagree - I like that they do it. For those who ignore it - fine, be respectful. But I don't work with the military all the time. So I like to take a moment to think about their sacrifices, for me it's about respect and remembering my grandmother who was a marine in WWII.
What kills me is when people try and jazz the song up. I can't stand it when they butcher our anthem to make it more exciting or make themselves look better. Drives me ape-poop crazy.

But then how will the fans know when to chant "USA! USA! USA!" to support our home-team players when we play teams with Canadian players?

I like Kane, but I don't think he's worth all of the hype. He had 1 30-goal season a few years ago, and...well, that's about it. I don't think he and Schenn are all that different right now. Kane may do small things better, and he's a natural winger, but that's about it. I'd do a trade centered on Schenn, but wouldn't want to trade our best (current) PP quarterback or any of our big prospects for him.

If it was a 1st, yes.

He has more value on the roster than he would as a trade chip.

I can see that point, and I respect it of course.. I think maybe it would have more of an "affect" on me if we weren't at war for every year I've been alive, as well. It just seems like, "another day, same thing". It's almost a way of life anymore (or ritual, as I said)

I completely agree with the "jazzed up" aspect though. I hate it when people feel the need to ruin it.. yes, ruin it.. Pop and R&B singers are notorious for doing this at events.

I agree, it's just a waste of time.

I'll probably get flamed for this but I would get rid of the national anthems as well before the game. I'm as patriotic as the next guy but I don't see the point except during a time of war.

I usually just mute the sound and go to the fridge while they go through this useless ritual.

Personally, I wouldn't touch Kane with a 10 foot pole ... he's an immature jerk who seems like a locker room cancer.

Bill, just a suggestion. On a non game day coming up maybe you could break down what needs to happen in the standings for us to obtain a wild card spot? I recognize and appreciate the improved play of late but I think some people are getting a little ahead of themselves here with thoughts of a late season comeback. Especially considering the absence of Mason.
- hereticpride

He covered it in the blog. As it sits right now they need to accumulate 9 more points than Boston.

My analysis...I don't care what the math says, they're not making the playoffs.

The problem, at least for the Flyers, is gaining their zone with the puck. The Habs totally shut down their transition game last night.
- jmatchett383

No totally, the Habs definitely controlled the puck in the 2nd and 3rd periods, but the Flyers did not have a shortage of quality A chances last night. They scored their only goal on the rush.

a 1st? did you make a funny?

you need cheap decent players to fill out the roster no doubt. just too bad on this team he has to play on the top line.

I think it's a product of all 3 players forming chemistry and playing well together. Lecavalier is an integral part of that.

I think he has more value to the team (as currently constructed) than a 2nd rounder. So, no, I would not trade him for a pick unless it's a first.
