I really like OEL, and if he is available, which I have doubts, the Flyers need to inquire about his availability. Let's not get carried away though. He's good but he's not a franchise player at this point, and may never be. A top 10 pick, Schenn, a top defense prospect, and another pick is too much in my opinion.

Ha! No worries. We can disagree on such things

forget that.
I bet they ship Bogo off first.
Detroit.

I listened to Detroit radio all day today. Detroit wants Jagr and young right handed two way defenseman.

They just so badly need a franchise player up front. It really sucks for them. Nothing against Hanafin but if they're picking three that just has to feel heart breaking.

If OEL somehow could be had, man I think we would make a lot of sense to deal with.

They get a lotto pick to increase their odds at that franchise player. We would probably also include a guy like BSchenn, who no other lotto team could really afford to part with. We probably give them a D prospect as well.

We get OEL. First paring D man who's age fits right in with the core of the team. No wasting years off G, Jake and Mase's prime hoping for prospects to pan out.

- hereticpride

So Schenn, our 1st and which D prospect? Like Manning or Morin?

That may be a little too much to offer. I would start with the lotto pick, BSchenn and Hagg and see if anyone can top that offer. I'd imagine they'd want one of the other prospects over Hagg tho.

1st, BSchenn, any prospect not named Sanheim is what I would end up doing. I think that is plenty fair both ways and address both teams needs. And I bet Arizona has a hard time finding another team to top that offer.

I wouldn't do Giroux, but otherwise, here's the thing about Doughty or any other legit No. 1: You wouldn't be getting one player, you would be getting two, in essence, because Coburn looks like a different player with a partner with hockey sense

Damn. We have got to get better on defense before Giroux starts to slow down

- AllInForFlyers

I agree with your last point. Right now we're misaligned as our corp will be slowing down just as we hope our D will be mature. I'm sure Hexy knows this, and will need to make trades to sort this out..

He won't be there after March 2, if not before
- AllInForFlyers

Either one of Kane or Myers would look good here but those ships may have sailed. My stance remains the same on Stewart or Kassian. With Stewart, I think he can be a complimentary winger on a good team. Kassian I don't expect to be the next Lucic, I just believe he could play on the same level as Steve Downie. He's young and has some ability. I find it hard to believe he's only a fourth liner and I absolutely feel he's an awful fit within the Canucks mix. It would just be nice if we got a little tougher at forward.

I think the hope is that they can sort out Myers and that the pick is solid in a good draft. It was also probably addition by subtraction with losing Kane.
- Hextall271

It's definitely risky for Buffalo, but my response was more to earlier comments that said Winnipeg clearly won this trade. This trade would be similar to the Flyers giving NAK, Cousins, Read on an expiring deal and a late first rounder for Kane

If I was making the call, they wouldn't get one of the other prospects. I'd be reluctant to add Haag.

Woof....that's a lot of assets. I like the trade for both teams though. Am I allowed to say that? Buffalo has the deep prospect/pick pool to absorb that type of hit. While E Kane is a headcase right now, he's still just 23 and has tremendous upside as a top LW.

It definitely could work out for both sides. Too hard to call right now. How is Myers going to develop? How is Bogosian going to play? The Jets could draft a stud with that pick. How about if they draft the next Giroux with that pick somewhere around the 20th pick. No way of knowing at this point.

Like Stone Double Bastard or Victory Golden Monkey, but I've never seen those beers in anything bigger than bomber bottles, about 24oz. That's a half growler and another 8oz for good measure... You should sleep well tonight.

It really would depend on where that lotto pick ends up being.

If it boosts their odds to win enough I think the prospect could be of much lesser value.

Your second point is why I don't want the Flyers to tank.. a 22 pick can be just as good or better than a top 10 (excluding the top 2 locks this year which we had no shot at)

i know it seems like a lot, and i know kane has issues, but just looking at that in a vacuum, i have a hard time not taking that if im the flyers.

(under the assumption that read is a goner in FA, much like stafford would have been)

http://www.nicholsonhocke...-predators-could-be-a-fit

Bob McKenzie was on NBCSN’s NHL Live on Wednesday evening.

On an off-the-radar guy who could emerge in trade talks before the deadline:

“That’d be Kimmo Timonen from the Philadelphia Flyers. He’s had the blood clot issue. Hasn’t been able to play all season. He has been skating on his own in Philadelphia. Now, he’s not expected to rejoin the team and practice with the team until February 17. But if that happens, it gives them just a day under two weeks before the NHL trade deadline.

“Now there’s no question that if he is able to play in some games, the Philadelphia Flyers would view him as a tradable asset and he may like that opportunity of getting to finish a career – if this is his last year, and there’s a lot of speculation it could be – to finish it with a contender possibly playing in the playoffs.

“He’s a former Nashville Predator. They’re looking for depth on the blueline.

“But at this point, Kimmo Timonen has really got to take it a day at a time. Hasn’t played all season. He’s been cleared with the medication to be able to play, put the blood clot situation behind him. But he’s got to stay day-by-day, game-by-game to see where his game is at and see if he feels comfortable. He’s not the type of player who is going to allow the Philadelphia Flyers to trade him anywhere if he doesn’t feel as though he’s a guy that can contribute and play the rest of this season.

“But the real reason he’s coming back wasn’t just to get traded. It was to come back because if it is his last year, he wants to retire as an active player. Not a guy that’s been sitting on the sidelines, just waiting for a doctor’s clearance.”

I might be willing to add in a decent prospect or another pick, but I'm not gutting my team for him.
