Lemieux will be a complete second line player and a beast on the pp
- homiedclown

If Murray gives up a player like Lemieux for Kane, i'd be incensed.

I don't see how he can do that, considering he just drafted him and he seemed to really like that pick (and since then, he has done nothing but score 30+ goals and have around 30 assists in 45 or so games, nothing really, lol). [EDIT: 46 games, 35 goals, 15 assists, 50 pts]

I understand that other teams are going to want a player like that in return, but I would remove him and see where the trade goes from there (if there are other players Winnipeg wants), but like others said, I don't need this to be too crazy, but I did like that deal. I do think this is a solid hockey deal and 5 years from now, we could be quite happy with the deal, not sending a 1st rounder, getting a first rounder and the D is close to a wash, forwards is an upgrade now but they COULD get a couple solid players moving forward. The Sabres need quality over quantity and at some point they are going to need to trade some of these guys for a few quality players. They have tons of prospects, but dont have room for them all, so you can keep them all and just play the best, or trade a few for a solid, known NHL player and move forward with a better team.

I know it's a long shot (especially in the West were there are only 14 teams and 8 make the playoffs) that Winnipeg does not make the playoffs and the first rounder wins the lottery, but in a deep draft, I am sure we can find a couple stud players (in 3-4 years). Either way, at some point the Sabres need to take the chance on something like this, but top 5 picks don't get traded that often, so who knows when the next chance will come about.

Was Ladd ever in a leadership role before the Jets though? 2 years on Chicago and he wasn't expected to be a leader there and before that was Carolina. He's been around great leaders and hopefully learned from them, but this is really his 1st Tim as the guy.
- adambuffalo

Ladd has flourished with the Jets more than anywhere else he's played, so again, I don't think leadership is a problem. Teams with strong leaders can still have players that still march to the beat of their own drum.

I'm not going to make excuses for anyone. You are who you are, and you can change some things only if you truly desire to. Based on the extremely recent track suit thing, I'm betting it's more than one guy's opinion.
- TheSabresTaco

But that's the thing - we don't know the whole story as nobody has talked about it. I read a report that said he thought the meeting was at the hotel (no dress code) and decided to go directly to the rink instead of changing. Who knows? I'd take the chance on him.

Rags may waive Stempniak for cap relief and looking for a goalie while the king recovers. Would it be worthwhile to send one of ours there for Lee? Could possibly then trade him at the deadline. Would someone give more for him or one of our goalies? He does have some playoff experience with the pens last year.

Exactly. I remember how frustrated Rivet was over certain players on his team.

I would grab Kane in a second for 50 cents on the dollar, but not touch him when you have to overpay for a player that averages around 7 more points a season then staff

- homiedclown

I am not sold that this is overpaying, but I understand your stance. This is the same thing as the Myers trade, if you want a proven NHL player (that is young and under contract, Kane) you will have to pay with a 1st rounder, roster player and high prospect. Then you have Myers for Bogosian which is close to a wash (Myers has slightly higher value).
So:
Myers = Bogosian
Stafford, Armia, 1st rounder = Kane
Lemiuex + 2nd rounder = (2) 1st rounders
[first rounders cancel and leave you with the deal that was stated]

Seems fair to me, we just all hoped they would want to dump him for less, but that is a good price (for a top 5 drafted player, they don't move much and Bogosian is a top 5 pick too)

I remember. It's just like one of us being at work and not wanting to listen to our boss. Some people are willing to conform when asked to do so and others won't.

It's one instance. I understand the whole defense attorney stance, but this has been a thing for years. His own ex teamates and coaches are calling him out for character flaws. It's not like they're lying. I would take him too, except I would pay more if he had strong, team-healthy character. Then again, if he did, he wouldn't be on the trade block.

I'm not a fan of that trade proposal posted last night. It would be a mistake imo trading both Armia and especially Lemieux. Not crazy about Bogo and I would still like Kane here but other pieces should be offered. And I don't want Myers in this deal.

I'd rather move Hurley or Bailey, maybe even Fasching as opposed to Lemieux. I think if Myers is involved I'd rather have Engstrom then Bogo.

There is the makings of a trade here just not so sure how it comes together.

Interesting. I do think that deal last night was offered, but was by the Jets and we will see what Murray pushes back with.

I do hope this happens soon, cause I do want Kane, still not sure if Myers is worth it or not, but if you can get him without Myers, that would be amazing (and not Lemiuex too).

I dont mind giving up a guy as that is what has to happen to make this deal work.

I'd trade Lemieux and Armia for a proven star all day long.

Just a hunch, but I think in the long run this franchise will regret bringing E. Kane here.

I'm one that hopes he does not come here, not for what I believe this franchise will have to give up to get him.

Some GM is going to overpay for Kane and I certainly hope that's not Murray.

I just have a gut feeling Murray is going to give up a guy in the system that is going to turn out to be a better player than Kane.

I'd like them to stay the course, and stay away from problems like Kane that you over pay for.

- BuffaloHardHat

Couldn't have said it any better. Very well put sir.

Trade Armia. What he projects to be is already what Evander Kane is and then some.

Lemieux is a scoring pest. I see him like a Brad Marchand. He is a keeper and dont think he goes anywhere.

Stafford or Stewart is the immediate help that I think we all agree is fine giving up and same goes for the STL 1st but the prospect with these items is what will be interesting. I still hope to see Larsson go in the deal or get called up to replace when some of these vets get moved. He needs to be up here or needs to be gone. Flynn is first one I want to be off the team thats not an old expiring vet. He is an AHL player to me

Kane is a proven star? Hardly, IMO.

Hall is a proven star, Kane is not.
