You don't build a team around wingers that is correct.

You build around Reinhart and McEichel (which more than likely they will have 2 of 3). They have they additional assets to make a play for a guy like E Kane and not disrupt the rebuild in the least. IMO you will see both late 1st rd picks be moved for wingers.

- dadeadhead

3 top notch consistent centers
top 4 d men that will lay it all out on the ice come playoff time

that is what you build around

plug in young wingers to work with the top 3 lines and rotate them out when they get paid

1 proven top line winger is the cherry on top

IMO that should be the recipe

Those are far from leaders that can mold Kane. You need a Toews a Joe Thorton. You need your best players to be that leader not players on your lower lines. AKA Mcdavid in 4 years.

you mean the guy that had his captaincy stripped?

Take it from a Leafs fan that all we have done is trade for wingers and lose prospects and picks doing it. Its a bad move. Wingers are the last thing a team needs, build your D build down the middle and just wait for wingers get some ufa or develop your own. IMO the only time to trade for a winger is if you are a cup contender with cap.

I mean you like him cause he has talent and young right? Well the jets arnt deep on the wing and look like a playoff team why would they even consider moving him? Cause he has issues they cant handle and im sorry to say buffalo isn't a team that would be any different from the jets. The jets wanting to move him should be a GIANT red flag.

I wouldn't worry.

Or you could trade Myers to one of the many bubble teams to make sure their 1st is included. Someone like the Kings would be a good target (can't resign all of the young players they have moving forward) and maybe throw in a Stewart or Stafford with it.

Not sure they would do it, but Murray made a trade last year, so at least they have a trade history.

I would give up Ennis too if it was to a bubble team (higher potential for lottery pick) w/STL 1st rounder or a 2nd rounder (or two).

Trading Stewart, Ennis, Folingo, Stafford, Myers (netting 2-3 more 1st rounders) we could net quite a few more 1st rounders this year and could really smash this draft (maybe those trades include 2nd or later round picks going back). Forget the next year or two (but we will have talent, just might not win) and then getting another top 10 next year, our team would be AMAZING for like 15 years. All those young talented guys growing up together in the NHL / AHL should make the team unreal. We would have like 6 guys on the Youngs Guns team during the summer tournament too. Crazy talented. That would be worth the wait.

idk, homie...kane has first-line tools...question is, where, if anywhere, will that resurface
- Michael Pachla

I said a couple blogs ago that a line of Kane-Reinhart-Stewart could be a lot of fun. If there is any truth to the fact that Kane and Stewart are friends, that could also help with Evander's temperament.

That would be equivalent to Eller, DeLaRose and 2015 1st for Mtl.

Kane does not worth that at the moment.

Eller (Foligno) and a 1st would be the maximum they would get. Maybe another lesser asset like a B prospect or a 3rd rounder but not much more than that.

Clearly you need to read up on what rentals have been going for in the past...

A 2nd rounder is the minimum he goes for

Why would the Sabres want to trade Myers? I don't get it, the kid is young and good w/a cap friendly contract...... Myers is the perfect dman who can help mentor the other kids on D..... A young core together is key.....

So you're moving not only the pending UFA's but Myers, Foligno and Ennis?

Who is left? So we pull an Edmonton and let all the kids play?

Playing just kids does NOT work.

The trading players besides UFA's to be for just picks time is over.
