That's what I thought too, but read an article they could wait til this time next year. You can't buy a player out during the season though, if I'm not mistaken.

i didnt see that, not saying youre wrong, if there was a way to buy him out after next season at 1/3 for 2x the remaining years, it makes more difficult to justify not letting him play his way out- even if its just to get his trade value back. Ill see what i can find.

Ok. you cant buy a player out til season ends. He turns 26 before next season ends. So, as i understand it, his remaining salary after NEXT season will be 4.5m, 5m, and 5.5m. Thats 15 million he will be owed. 2/3 of that would be 10 million spread over 2x (3 years after next season) or 6 years. So i see a cap hit of $1,667,000 each year for 6 years. So it basically doubles, albeit only for 6 years. I think murray will try to move him if he can, but i dont think he will risk him being on the roster at the start of next season.

It was so much easier with capgeek. They had a buyout program.

Problem is, our goalies stop way more than they should and, even though we hardly shoot, way more go in than they should.

Quite honestly, without the superhuman goaltending performances we have seen this year, this race would pretty much already be over.

Have they said how they are fixing the lottery for next year? Cuz it would not suck to have them playing much better- maybe 20th- and still have a look at a top 5 pick.
