I'm just saying guys with that size, speed, and skill don't come around very often.

You just described Myers as well....yet you don't see why we would want a haul for him?

I remember when a certain blogger on this site once said that Ryan Callahan was better than Rick Nash.

Good times

This league is such a 'what have you done for me lately?' type of league it's crazy. Ryan Miller's entire career was basically forgotten and he was officially considered a hasbeen last year.

Are we even going to have Stewart by the time Kane is tradable? Isn't he on IR right now until the end of the season?
- BigStew

You can trade an injured player as long as he isn't on LTIR.

It's perfect sense. Kane doesn't help this years tank and one of tbt kids Grigorenko or Armia gets nhl playing time

This was before Nash had a bad playoffs.

Either way, I have been a huge Nash fan forever.

I just feel Myers is overvalued, a very good player just overvalued. All I keep hearing is all this non-sense how he has so much potential when he's a 6 year NHL veteran and has 360+ games under his belt.

I don't get why people get almost offended when Murray or a fan says it has to be an overpayment.

I could be in the minority here but a goalie is the last thing I want if we trade Myers.

who might you have in mind to do that?
- Michael Pachla

I really don't have anybody specific in mind, but every year, plenty of players like Stewart are moved, and it's for a reason. His role simply isn't worth signing somebody for too a long period of time. Heck in a few years, by the time the Sabres would realize that contract is a mistake, they should have plenty of their own guys (Armia, Lemieux, etc.) ready to play that role.

Armia and Lemieux are both unknowns, like all prospects. What do we do between now and when they prove to be whatever they might be?

Stewart is a known commodity.

You guys are crazy. You want overpayment for an overvalued player.
- Feds91Stammer

Because he is one of the cornerstones of the team's rebuild. How many times do you come across a right-shot defenseman who is as big and can skate as well as Myers? Add that to the fact that he's still young and improving and is signed to a very favorable contract for the next several years and you have a guy that you're only going to move for a pretty serious overpayment, especially considering there are so many teams interested in him. I don't think anybody is saying these deals are going to happen or even that they should happen. The team has an asset that they're more than happy to hold on to so letting him go for anything less than an overpayment would just be bad business.

I want him to be overvalued by our GM. He's young and signed long term. There is no reason to push him out for just any offer.

I also am not convinced that Risto /Zadorov are a future top pair and that Pysyk/McCabe are bona-fide top 4 players.

Trading Myers could potentially leave a gaping hole

Well of course you don't trade him just for the sake of trading him. If there is an offer out there that makes the team better moving forward you take it. I see a lot of the overpayment talk on about any trade discussion and I think it has come down to most GM's being afraid to lose a trade.
