I keep reading that teams would have interest, and I just can't wrap my mind around it -- I think he is a very, very good goal-scorer. I wouldn't necessarily argue if somebody wanted to say he is an elite goal-scorer
But $8 million for one dimension, even as much as I appreciate the ability to score...yikes - AllInForFlyers
Maybe Buffalo would take him if they land one of the two big centers in the draft.

This might be a bad example but I feel Phil Kessel being traded to a bubble team would be like when the Sharks traded for Joe Thornton. I'll agree with anyone who says Kessel is nowhere near the player Thornton ever was but my point is Joe Thornton is a game changing playmaker, while could be a game changing scorer if he actually played with talent. I also understand Thornton never got the Sharks to a Stanley Cup Final but at least the Sharks were a threat for along time against the Wings, Hawks and Kings.
What sucks is I do not believe Voracek to be an 8 million dollar player. It took this season for me to admit he was an elite winger in this league but if he was really legit, the scoring title wouldn't current ly be in doubt. If Giroux was ever up there, I think it would be less likely Giroux would tail offbbecause he's in the running each year.

If he were to run away with the scoring lead, he may get more.
Even if Voracek maintains a PPG pace the rest of this season, and next year, he will get paid as much.
Look at some of the salaries around the league, (after the last lockout).
He'll get at least what Kejci got.

No question that he's a nice player to have but I look at what he's done prior to this season, his current slump and how he looked for the two games Giroux was out and his play was underwhelming. At least Giroux and Kessel can play alone. The best normally can.

He's so...round
Everything about his face is round - Giroux_Is_God
the roundness, the fatness, the protruding jaw, the expression, the skin tone...all of it. i hate it so much i feel the same way mrs. white felt about yvette.

I know, I do see your point.
You wouldn't expect a top paid player to disappear for short stretches, or not produce.
Kessel has had 2, & 1/2 PPG seasons, (the 1/2 being the lockout).
It's all about the market, and how many other players are there with his skill level?
Example
Kane & Toews getting $10.5 mill each?
Are they that much better than Getzlaf, & Perry?

He's not legit because he has competition? If Voracek keeps doing what he's doing, I absolutely think he's worth 8 mil.
So, Phil Kessel is great and worth $8mm per year, despite having just 3 goals and 6 points over his last 16 games, and Voracek isn't worth it, because he hasn't scored in a couple games.
