Personally, I'd rather have Ehlers over Kane. I think putting him on the 2nd line would create a much more dynamic line to balance the 1st line. I'd give up Couts for Ehlers. I know, there is risk because he's not proven. I'd still take the risk. I'm sure a few of you will balk, but here's the thing...I don't think the Jets would even consider it.

The only deal that I'm willing to include Couturier in, is in a deal that sees the Flyers acquiring a legitimate top pair two way defenseman.

Agreed Coots and Giroux are a great 1-2 punch. Coots may not end up being a 25 goal scorer. However, he is already one of the best defensive centers in the league. I would like the Flyers to get a more skilled 3rd line center to play with Simmonds.

Kane would be a great get for the Flyers. However, Couturier is too high of a price to pay to get him. Skilled wingers are a luxury. Good centers are a necessity.

I would agree. If I was to trade him I would call Arizona regarding OEL and make Coots available

Without Mason they are a bottom five lottery pick team.

That first period they were so lucky to have a 1-0 lead.

Saying they were rusty is being too kind.

Rough night for Luke Schenn. I thought he showed signs of better, more consistent play then has another clunker of a game. Read after a few decent games also looked bad, zero confidence with the puck.

40/78/76 had a nice game.

Flyers were brutal with the puck for the most part.

Seeing Kimmo was the highlight of the night.
Thanks Bill for transcribing the rest of the interview.

I struggle to see how Rinaldo can make the team again with how well VdV and White have played, and with Raffl hopefully on the mend.
- Feanor

White does what Rinaldo does, but seems to do it better.

Enjoy Lehigh Valley, Zac!

He has rough spots before, but he is a rookie, getting his first NHL action.

Its was now or never with that kid. Trade him now, he's a bust.

I can see myself crying during his first shift. Not bawling but just blinking a couple man tears out. I put crying/not crying at a 60/40% odds.

Im still in a wait and see attitude. He wont even be skating with the team for a week to ten days. After that he still needs to practice. Hopefully there are no setbacks or injuries in the meantime.

For me this is a lost season. A stepping stone to greater things in the future.

This kane trade situation... part of me would like to trade for him and part of me wants nothing to do with him. I think if we were to trade for him, it should be B. Schenn + whatever (they are the same age and both have potential). maybe a dman since it seems we will be overcrowded once Coburn and Kimmo are back. We wouldn't necessarily need Kane on our top line. I think we could move Raffl to LW again w Jake and G and have a second line of Kane - Couts/Laughton-Simmonds. Think that line could do some serious damage. But I just don't know if this guy is controllable with his actions. I also can't tell if he is just acting this way to force himself out of Winnipeg and clean his act up wherever he goes

I hope Hextall is open to trading ANY of the defensive corps. I don't care who is on a point streak. Who plays well with who. This team needs a shake up on the blue line like it's going out of style. Hexy needs to be open to move any of them and make the best deals possible.

I give Mason all the credit in the world for keeping it together and not going Stalin on everyone's tail

That is the hard part, is Kane just a jerk, or is he just unhappy.

Thanks Bill. Well, at least the team played for the first 20 minutes. After that, it was hit or miss with them. Those breaks kill our momentum, and old habits seem to creep up again.
Good on White for breaking Martin's nose..lol. I like Martin, but only when he is not playing the Flyers...hahaha; he seems to come close to the line, but doesn't go over it; lessons learned Rinaldo?
What is going on with Vandevelde? Is he a one hit wonder this season? I hope that he can keep up the good work, and scoring. Not a knock on the guy, just a pleasant surprise.
Oh, and even though the second goal that Mace let in might have been suspect, he played well for most of the game. Facing quite a few shots a game is not fun for a goalie.
Knock on McD's play. I don't know what has happened since he has come over to the team, but he hasn't been real solid. I thought that he was going to complement Streit's play, but he hasn't been able to put things together. His turnovers are my biggest problem with him, and his he isn't very physical. Another long contract to deal with.

he for sure has some jerk in him, but with all the trade talks involving him past few seasons, you gotta think lately he is just doing anything to get out. Especially if he has had beef with Buff. I know he's injured and all but the guy is being used on the 3rd line. Can't produce the way you're expected to when you are on 3rd line

With Kimmo and Coburn coming back within the next couple weeks should Hextall try to make a couple deals involving Dman before the TDL? I just think it would be harder to trade popcorn eaters. Get em out of town before they are shipped up to press box
Manning is capable of finishing out season with this team.

- 3flyerkids

Manning can fill in on the NHL level. But he's currently 10th on the depth chart, and I don't see Hextall trading three guys for picks.
