It is kind of an elegant solution because with the injectables the blood thinner can be out of the system in 12-24 hours, so if they time them around the games it minimizes the risk. The oral anticoagulation drugs take several days to leave the system.

Shouldn't you take anticoags at the same time every day, a la statins?

Because...theoretically...depending on how the dosing schedule pans out- he could end up having too much or not enough drug in his blood. Both of which are suboptimal.

Google, for what it's worth, tells me Xarelto's half life is 5-9 hrs.

We're learning about stroke soon. I hope we talk about anticoags and blood thinners.
