You do realize that L Schenn is a -24 for his career and it isn't like he is playing against the other teams top lines. So prior to last night, when has he been fine? And please include a stretch that is longer than 3 games.
- Daveflyers36

im far from someone who thinks luke schenn is a quality nhl player,

but he did play tons of minutes, at least a decent portion against guys other than fourth liners, on pretty mediocre to bad TML teams.

Cause those Maple Leafs teams he played on were so good, right? His -12 from the 08/09 season wasn't even the worst on the team. Solid squad.

I really don't feel like debating this further. It's my opinion. And as I already stated, the last several games - the Winning Streak - he was fine, averaging 20 minutes per night.

This made me wonder.....

We complain that the Flyers haven't developed a top 6 d-man since Chris Therien.

When was the last time a player drafted by and developed in Toronto made an All-Star team?

And on those Maple Leaf teams his numbers offensively were actually better. the 08/09 season, his lowest offensive output is better than his highest offensive output for the Flyers. And Schenn is playing 20 minutes a game because frankly Berube has no other options.

hmm. i dont know.

their management is in a tough spot, much like the flyers. theyve never had the luxury of being able to really hit the reset button, or allow guys to develop properly.

its easy to poke fun at losing rask, seguin, and the like, but theyre always running around with their heads cut off.

i dont think he ever really gets those opportunities on the flyers. granted, i dont think he should, because i dont think he is a guy you want doing those things.

but on the leafs, i think he was given the opportunities, at least initially, because he was a high pick and they wanted to see him become an all around number 1 guy.

here, the flyers have had guys like timo, streit, coburn, and now even del zotto that get those looks before him.

Such a good way to describe that franchise, year in and year out. On point.

Taking my son to get R J Umberger's autograph tonight. Thinking about getting him to sign my Rob Zombie CD.

Good call. I couldn't think of anyone. I guess I always thought of Kaberle as good, but not good enough for an all-star team. Maybe he made when they did that "North America vs. the World" format?

Ah, don't be mean! This is just jokes.

I bet RJ is a good guy and I hope your son enjoys meeting him.

I don't think the Flyers expected him to be an offensive defenseman or point producer. They didn't trade for Luke Schenn for his offensive ability.

Exactly. He a physical defenseman and he's right-handed. That's the value proposition for Luke Schenn at this point.

I know it's just jokes. It will be his first Flyer he gets to meet and I know he will enjoy it. It will be his warm-up for when he has his meet and greet with Giroux at the wives carnival.

if Schenn would simplify and quicken his puck moving in the D-zone it would do wonders. He holds onto the puck way too long.

Him being a physical defenseman is actually something I like about Luke. Now if only he knew what to do with the puck when he gets it.

I haven't been to the carnival in years.....I think it was the '80's.

If you ever get a chance to get to Voorhees for practice, that's a great (cheap) way to see the team up close and I hear most players are pretty good about signing after practice (although there are those on here who may know more about players' post practice signing habits than I do).

And more importantly, other then the 4th line and Mason, the entire team was bad last night.
