Stewart for Spooner sounds like a good deal to me. I don't fault Murray for trying to get a little extra though.
- ImThatGuy

i see nothing wrong with just getting spooner

trade for him now and have him get that season ending injury.. what does it take?
- IndianaSabresFan

I say offer Staff and a 1st.

or a 1st and B level prospect.

Stewart and a 1st.

One of those 3 scenarios.

i even typed "favorite" into my laptop, but it autocorrected it to "favourite"

when i went to Florida in December we went to a Canadian restaurant and this family sitting beside us never heard of poutine and they were an American family. i was shocked, i will admit

There is a such thing as a Canadian restaurant? That's amazing. Is it all Poutine and Alexander Keith's? Do servers wear hockey jerseys and speak authentic Canadian? Sometimes French?

Well it was Disney World, at Epcot in the Canadian Pavilion.
Called Le Cellier.
It was nice to talk to our server guy about hockey, temperatures in Celsius and not Fahrenheit and other things lol.

I told our waiter all they need to do is to put TV's with hockey on and wear hockey jerseys and this place is set, he got a good laugh at that haha.

But this family actually said these exact words, after the waiter asked if they had any questions about the menu: "what the heck is Putin?". They actually pronounced it "Putin" (like Vladimir Putin) instead of Poutine. I was like daaaaamn.

they had some pretty attractive daughters so i didn't really care how they pronounced it

Agreed. The McEichel quest is still in full tank mode. You draft one of them and go searching for a Patrick Sharp type player from a cap strapped team at the draft with the other late first rounder. Could totally change the top 6.

I know I've been saying it for days but it's the best way to turn around the rebuild without having to over spend in free agency which never works.

Get the cornerstone at the draft and make good trades.

Trade Stewart straight up for Spooner and then trade him to Ottawa for Lazar.

You're gonna have to give up Risto or Zado if you want Lazar lol... Ottawa is very high on him. Dude is everything you want in a hockey player.

You vastly undervalue the pettiness of the common sportsfan. "Gates" will never be forgotten and will constantly be the fodder of sports-talk radio as it draws in fans who feel the need to share their feelings of being cheated.

Of our NHL free agents,
I think Strachan might be the most likely guy to be re-signed
He's been a decent depth defenseman for us, and I don't know if he'd be a guy that get too much interest elsewhere
I'd like to see him back

There's a handful of RFAs I don't expect to be back
Sundher is almost definitely gone. At least as far as the Sabres are concerned. I could see him possibly sign a minor league contract with Rochester though.
I think Lieuwen might be a goner.
Hacket is an interesting situation as well.
Leduc, D'Amigo & Dalpe could be 86d as well.

Not sure what they need to hang on to in Rochester. They definitely have some shuffling to do down there, and just like the big club, they need at least a couple of veterans. I would totally keep Strachan. Hell, give him a little bit of a raise for showing up. He tends to quietly go about his business for a lot less money then Benoit or Mezaros.

That's it. It is decided. When I retire I will move to Florida and open an authentic Canadian restaurant.
