They were saying if he's bitter about being scratched he can really screw them by insisting on the surgery he's been putting off all season. Apparently he's been playing with an injury since early in the year.
- mayorofangrytown

Im not buying all that injury nonsense. Kid is producing with the minutes hes given. He's been a third liner parts of the year. Idk what's up with him there, but I think he's wanted out for awhile now. He probably stopped giving a (frank) two summers ago.

Winnipeg wants a kings ransom for him and no ones offered exactly what they want to this point.

Yup, it's a real blind spot currently... which I guess is ironic when you consider that the movement was borne out of a stat that was developed to track goalie workload in the first place, lol.

Was he spotted in the parking lot in a track suit?

If he was, hopefully it looked like this one:

It's real. They've acknowledged it. The plan was to do it in the off season since it isn't hampering his play. However, he can insist on doing it now.

The Jets are going to have to seriously back off their demands if they want to move him at the deadline.

Ek says flyers are getting action on MDZ

If him and schultz are the only dmen the flyers are getting calls on Bc of their contracts and play on the ice, I move both of them to the highest bidder.

Wash rinse repeat this summer. Find the next scrap heap UFA dmen to outperform our signed dmen, then make a decision about who you want to keep/move next year since they all will be on expired deals

That's a recipe for disaster. Bargain basement signings of leftovers will fail 9 times out of 10.

They have to be guys you are willing to take a chance with. Schultz and Del Zotto were both pretty good calculated risks by Hextall and they've happened to work out.

I wouldn't count on going 2 for 2 every year like that.

Flyers got extremely lucky in both cases. I agree, I wouldn't count on it, or use it as a strategy in the future.

Why did you bold Mark Streit? He's 8th in the league in D scoring, and leads the Flyers in ice time.
- Feanor

I realize his stats and he's our best offensive Dman, just alot of money

Unless I'm getting insane over-value for MDZ, he's a keeper.

Expecting the Isles to come out full of piss and vinegar. Interested to see how Grossmann does. His size and physicality might be needed, but I worry about him with MacDonald as a pair in terms of allowing the Isles to enter the zone with speed. Those two are a good containment pair, but both are prone to yielding carry-ins. That could be really beneficial to the Isles.
- Jsaquella

I look forward to several Isles zone entries look easy as pie and exits for this pair to be as difficult as the 2008 Flyers trying to clear the zone against the Penguins in the ECF. Or, they'll just float the puck to center only to have the Isles reset and get the puck back in again. Rinse. Repeat.

In unrelated pictures, here are two bullfighters letting bulls go right by:

Schultz, MDZ, O'Donnell all played pretty well. Even Huskins (traded for a conditional 7th which was not excersized, may as well have been a scrap) was okay too in his short stint. Foster, Lilja, Gervias...not so much.

I would say it's probably more like 40/60, or maybe the Flyers defense has just been so piss poor the last few years that legit 7th defensemen look really good.

Those bullfighters are terrible. They need to learn to take the body instead of letting the bulls run right by them.

"THIS COMMITTEE OWES AN APOLOGY, SENATOR!"

http://www.broadstreethoc...hiladelphia-flyers-goalie

I give this guy credit for writing this article, because at least someone has finally admitted they were wrong on Steve Mason.

The one thing he DIDN'T do in the article, which was disappointing, was that he didn't embrace the notion that past performance (especially captured in statistics) does not necessarily predict the future (any Wall Street quant worth his/her salt knows this). Goaltending is volatile to begin with (he does acknowledge this), but to simply rely on past numbers accumulated without context applied to them shows a basic misunderstanding of how to use data.

- johndewar

Well said.

I used environment differences in my rebuttals to those online who have decried Mason since his arrival in town, but "He gonna regress!" is about all I received in response.

Both have had more than competent stretches (year or years) in their careers of playing top 4 minutes, prior to their arrival here. I wouldn't call them doing the same for us this year being extremely lucky.
