Even if they go on a run here, they should still look to sell. I'm more inclined with getting rid of Grossmann and Coburn much more than any of the forwards right now. For a couple of reasons, but probably the most important reason is that D-men are going to bring in more value trade-wise.
- KGBflyers10

They both still have term left on their deals, so not sure how big of a market there will be for them at the deadline. I think the Flyers need to be real careful when considering moving Coburn.

I'm with you for the most part. I've said it all year, that this team should be a much better team then they've been. They've just been a fragile team mentally, and have has some real bad stretches where they've played poorly. When they're playing to their capabilities, they are a playoff caliber team. Need to add a few pieces, along with some younger players taking the next steps.

The first few months they just seemed to get so discouraged so easily. I wonder if this has anything to do with the change in leadership? the two alternates are different this year. I can't really see hartnell having that big of an effect on the locker room... maybe he did. I can totally believe that losing Timonen effected some of the younger guys pretty negatively. Idk. like we both said, when they're playing THEIR game, they're a difficult team to beat. LEts hope for a win tonight, and for Giroux and voracek to put some points on the scoresheet tonight.

Ive pretty much disagreed with you all season on this... they are not a playoff caliber team. They havent been a playoff caliber team for a few seasons now.

Yes, there are games where they play reallly well, are up on their skates, and beat better teams.

But the same can be said about the Sabres and the Oilers.

The opposite can also be said about the Blackhawks, Islanders, Preds, Ducks, and Blues.

The difference? Good teams are able to consistently put it all together. Bad teams cannot. We are a bad team with a few really good parts.

I think you should re read what I posted. I did not state that they are a playoff caliber team. I stated that when they play to the level that they're capable of, they're a playoff caliber team. Unfortunately, they've had long stretches where they have not done so, and have underachieved, as a team

Teams such as the Oilers and Sabres are not in the same situation. Not even remotely close.

So if the flyers can string together a couple of more wins, then do we believe?

Looking at the odds, it's not looking very good for the flyers unless they can put together a couple solid winning streaks.

Mathematics will tell you they have a chance.

Realistically they don't have a chance in hell of making the playoffs.

Sure are some ugly looking ones on there

- Trainfellow

Why did you bold Mark Streit? He's 8th in the league in D scoring, and leads the Flyers in ice time.

I agree.
I don't think they will be next season either unless some player movement miracles happen.

Crouse getting tossed under the bus and shouldn't be
- ob18

Crouse is a nice player but a terrible fit for the Flyers IMO. Flyers need forwards who can generate offense on their own and not just be a complimentary player. I don't want a guy who can put up 30 goals next to Giroux; I want a guy who can put up 30 goals regardless of who he plays with. The flyers need another producer of offense behind Giroux who makes the rest of the line better. Based on Crouse's junior numbers, I am not sure he is that guy.

Evander Kane for Lecavalier and Umberger.

Sounds reasonable.

This

I'm hoping they draft a guy who can flat out put points on the board. Doesn't matter who he is playing with. Be they assists or goals or both. Just get someone who can make the second line dangerous.

Agreed except he is Canadian and plays in the CHL so more hype.

What are people looking for Crouse to become: a 25-30 goal scorer who forechecks, plays physical and stands in front of the net. Just like Lucic and Simmonds right? Well those guys were both 2nd rd picks. How about David Backes? 2nd rd pick. Maybe Johan Franzen. 3rd rd pick. Seems like you can get these guys later in the draft. The Flyers might have gotten one in Lindblom last year. I'd much rather go for someone more dynamic that high in the draft at center or defense.

have you seen the list of possible D guys who are TDL candidates?

Cody Franson
Andrej Sekera
Mike Green (doubtful as Caps are right in the thick of it and make good use of him)
Marc Methot
Andrew Ference
Bryce Salvador
Josh Georges
Chris Phillips
Jeff petry
Dionne Phaneuf (doubtful he goes with that deal)
Keith Yandle (kind of doubtful because of the asking price, but I think they will move him this year)
Tyler Myers (doubtful)

I think we should draft Rinaldo again in the first round this year. You can never get enough energy and having 2 Rinaldo's would be twice the awesome. amirite?

They were saying if he's bitter about being scratched he can really screw them by insisting on the surgery he's been putting off all season. Apparently he's been playing with an injury since early in the year.

Bolded guys will go fast. Coburn is certainly trade able with the demand, Grossman will be tough I think.
