In the end it will be Lawson Crouse
- ob18

Someone will probably draft Crouse ahead of the Flyers, thankfully.

I think the top 7 will be McDavid, Eichel, Hanifin, Strome, Rantanen, Crouse, and Marner. Maybe Kylington or Provorov sneaks in there but outside of Toronto, all of the crappy teams have real trouble scoring goals.

Inside of Toronto, they're also having real trouble scoring goals of late.

They'll probably pick someone horrible by "reaching" like they did taking Forsberg 6th or Giroux 22nd.

Yeah definitely. If you ask some of the guys in our thread we should trade two of our top 3 prospects for him

Who are said prospects? Is Griffin Reinhart still a "top prospect?"

So if the flyers can string together a couple of more wins, then do we believe?

Looking at the odds, it's not looking very good for the flyers unless they can put together a couple solid winning streaks.

I won't believe in them until they can beat a contender like Pittsburgh.

The advanced stat community has pretty universally acknowledged that it's very difficult to evaluate goalies using advanced stats. Their are some new things out that may be able to offer a little more perspective.

Save percentages are so volatile from year to year. Look at a guy like Fleury. He's having a great year after being an average starter the past several seasons. A guy like Ben Bichop was unbelievable last year and is just solid this year.

It's impossible to predict which of the top 20-25 goalies are going to put up great numbers from year to year. It's just important to have one of those top 20-25 because there is a drop off after them.

- PhillySportsGuy

Yup, it's a real blind spot currently... which I guess is ironic when you consider that the movement was borne out of a stat that was developed to track goalie workload in the first place, lol.

I have always said, and always will say, that Ben Bishop is EXTREMELY overrated. He's just really big and takes up 3/4 of the net. He's a good goalie, but he's not in the Rinne, Price, Lundquist, Rask tier of talent. Lightning fans talk about him like he's the second coming of Christ himself. I'd honestly take Steve Mason in his current form 7 days a week over big ben.

I'm already a believer. I know this team can do it. It's just a matter of if they can play as a team. I've been saying it all season, when they play as ONE UNIT, they can beat any team in the league. Sure our d is bad- I'd take our d over the avs, stars, isles, and leafs defense though. It's gonna be extremely challenging to get to the post season, but I really think they can do it. Maybe it's just wishful thinking idk.

Problem is, it has to be combined with losing streaks. 10 points is a lot to make up.

I can buy into believing, but they should still certainly be sellers. Play hard, move contracts.

If they dont at least shed some salary and obtain additional picks for this draft I will be mucho disappointo.

Even if they go on a run here, they should still look to sell. I'm more inclined with getting rid of Grossmann and Coburn much more than any of the forwards right now. For a couple of reasons, but probably the most important reason is that D-men are going to bring in more value trade-wise.

I'm with you for the most part. I've said it all year, that this team should be a much better team then they've been. They've just been a fragile team mentally, and have has some real bad stretches where they've played poorly. When they're playing to their capabilities, they are a playoff caliber team. Need to add a few pieces, along with some younger players taking the next steps.
