Yep lu for 8 yrs or clarkson for 7. Plus you wouldn't have to pay bernier the insane contract he's gonna get. Canucks pay penalties.
Personally I think no nuts hate/jealousy for taking his job) of Gilles get in the way of his better judgement(assuming he does have better judgment) - Bieksa#3
The worse part of clarkson's deal is the guaranteed money. Because of the way the contact is structured the majority of the money is paid in bonuses. So the money is not affected by a buyout. It's buyout proof. The one thing owners have to protect themselves from bad decisions is buyouts. It's a mulligan. Nonis couldn't even protect that. Stupid (frank).
I think Clarkson is right there with Richards and maybe Semin as the worst contracts out there. No way the Leafs move Clarkson. They just have to suck it up and hope he can play some useful gritty bottom line minutes. - Aetherial

Hard to deny how useless no nuts is. His teams records speak for themselves. One playoff in 4 yrs in Vancouver while taking over a contender. Took over a up and coming team in Toronto and (frank)ed it
Actually, remember the season leading up to Clarkson's UFA year... there were a LOT of people who thought he would be perfect for their team. He was viewed as a really physical, gritty, heart and soul guy who could score a little.
It was only after he signed a ridiculous contract and then completely shat the bed that people's attitude changed. There was a market out there for him and I bet there are a few GMs who breathed a sigh of relief over the last couple years. - Aetherial
Only issue I had with his contract was he was being paid for a career year that was far and away better than his career norm. He is and always has been a heart and soul guy but he is being paid to be a top 6 forward who doesn't have the talent or namely skating ability to consistently produce in a top 6 slot
I'm certain Buffalo wants him, but what are they gonna trade Winnepeg? All Their UFAs and maybe their 2 1st rounders from New York and St Louis ??? - mattsox
Uh, I'm sorry but Kane's 19 goals and 22 assists last year and his stats this year which are projected to be worse warrant no more than 1 UFA and a 2nd round pick.
Unless of course you value a 20 goal scorer(with a bad attitude) that much.....and in that case good luck fielding a hockey team.
