Id seriously do that with Bennett, Harrington and a 3rd. Id prefer to hold onto Pouliot. - Reverend Killtaker
As unlikely as the whole thing sounds, its fun to fantasize about. Id say since we dont have a 1st to give, its gotta be DP. |

They would def need to make some cap room first though. - Reverend Killtaker
We would have to rid ourselves of Kunitz and someone else too just to make room. |

When can Sundqvist come back from overseas and could he be part of their plans to finish out this season? |

It would be awkward but necessary to give up Kunitz for a pick/prospect package but its the nature of the beast and a necessary evil. |

If his season is over before our season he can play here, but it's more likely he goes to WBS to play there and learn the North American style before he hits the NHL. |

Kane on his way out? To me, we have to be players here... Bennett, Sutter & Harrington as a starting point... thoughts? |

I still think Kunitz is the the answer at 2nd line LW, but you could in theory trade him for assets that will be moved for E.Kane along with your own. I do not see them wanting Pouliot though, more likely Despres or Harrington.
But I dont think that deal can be done without a 1st. |

Including Sutter can help offset the cap hit, not completely but somewhat |

He would be their 4th line center, they wouldn't make that deal. |

Why would you move out Kunitz to bring Jagr in? |

The top three candidates in order (apparently it should have been this instead)
1A. Beau Bennett
1. Brandon Sutter
2. Nick Spaling
3. Chris Kunitz
Id be fine with it. |

I agree with most of what you write on this blog RW. BUT I CANNOT DISAGREE MORE with your comments regarding Gary Thorne!
Gary Thorne is one of the most overrated sports play by play men of all time. I cant stand his blatant homer-ism when he is supposed to be impartial on a nationally televised game. He clearly loves the Rangers and Flyers--which should make all of us sick. Unlike with Doc Emerick, when Thorne was on I used to turn down the sound and turn up the radio broadcast. UGH I cant stand the thought of more Gary Thorne. NOOOOOO!! |

Well, after his first 3 or 4 games he seems to disappear...for games at a time not just shifts. He works well along the boards about 10% of the time and seems to be slumped over (ether hurting or out of shape) after every shift. I still think he may turn out an okay player but nothing that he has done outside of a handful of nice plays show that he is a legit top 6 player in the nhl. Obviously all just my opinion. |

I just think it'd be a big mistake to trade Beau. - dbell646
agreed, with his cap hit and his potential ceiling, it would be a dumb move.

2 things:
What is this new fascination with trading Bennett. He's had a few bad games. You guys act like he is a 8 year veteran that suddenly lost his game. The flashes i've seen from him make me think that once he gets some experience playing consistently, he will be a very good player for the Pens.
What is the obsession with a guy from Vancouver that has the same amount of points as Andrew Ebbett?? Yay, he's big and physical, but to think he going to just break out his shell and become a top 6 option is dreaming. I like the idea of Higgins or Hansen better. |

The Pens once traded Recchi in a package for Tocchet. If something involving BB for Kane happens, it would be semi reminiscent of that deal. Hopefully the results would play out similarly as well. There is no denying that Kane is the type of player built for the playoffs, and BB just isnt. |

They would only be similar if Beau would have been 2nd in scoring last year in the playoffs. Recchi was a beast for the Pens before they traded him. |
