Since the biggest issue in the proposed Kane trades is cap space, would retroactively putting Ehrhoff on LTIR temporarily free enough space to add Kane with the assumption that they would have to salary dump somebody before Ehrhoff came back around the deadline? - Rawdog9755
I don't think so, maybe if he's out for the season... but if it's 2 months or so then we only get the daily cap hit until the break. Someone correct me.
But Kane only would cost us 3 million now halfway through. We have give or take a million free. Add the Bennet, Dumoulin, Sutter and we have more than enough. Not sure if Dumoulin counts as cap going out though. |

Yup, Kopitar would be a great mentor (like McDavid even needs one) but he is a great two way guy to learn from. |

Trading Kunitz is a possibility because a) his value will never be higher, b) Perron lessens the blow, and c) the cap space gives the Penguins room to find a top 6 rental (maybe 68). Having Kunitz's cap hit off the books over the next few years wouldn't hurt either. Hate to see him go, but it's something to consider. - cap1681
??? The Pens are having trouble scoring goals, but they should trade one of their best offessive players??? i don't get it |

the attributes that makes kunitz an offensive force are fading away...hes got a quick release at this point going for him, and going to the net...im pretty sure some of us could have 60 points a year playing with sid...remember warren young with mario, he was awful, still scored 50 goals in a season
im not saying I want to trade kunitz, but if thats what it took to bring in some better talent then I say why wait
I could see the peg wanting kunitz back in return if there was any chance of us getting kane |

His stats have not declined at all and the Pens PP was at its best early in the season with Kunitz and Horny in front with Malkin... Crosby and Tanger...
The bigger issue is who are you geting in return at that cap hit??? |

I'd put him as the Penguins 6th or 7th best offensive player.........He's good, but not untouchable. |

kunitz dumo and sutter for kane and a pick maybe
maybe kunitz beau and dumo for kane and low pick?
sutter for wingels?
Id have a hard time not doing those deals...i think wingels probably has more value then sutter, could be wrong...
i think I and all of us would be extremely surprised if we got kane or eberle, or any other premier talent that is out there right now... |

See, now I can get on board with that as much as I want to keep Kunitz.
Only problem that poses is now we need a 3c unless they start playing Spaling at center. |

You can't match it for cost this season.... The argument is the fear of him being done after this season, and having 2 dead weight seasons... or same after next year, 1 dead weight season. So trade him for near the same production at a bit higher cost, but a younger player... something along those lines, is the reasoning. |

Do the first, then send the pick with Sutter for Wingels if the price is too low |
