Got to fix the PK before anything else. I don't care who or what they pick up at the deadline, it won't mean s**t if the PK doesn't improve. - Jethro09
I'll also add that acquiring a player via trade is not going to change our PK(didn't think you were saying that btw) that is something that needs to change structurally. How it's played. I know this post is pretty much preaching to the choir but it's maddening that these same problems are never ending and have been going on since before the season even started. The absolute neglecting of special teams and the obvious indifference to them is a joke. |

You know who plays on the PK?...... Glass. Would be a great fit for your team.
Just figured I would stop by and let you know since most outside posters are afraid to tell you what you need on your team. |

We need more aerodynamic helmets. The wind drag on the current Islanders' helmets is killing their ability to move the puck up ice with any momentum. |

Jokes aside this team cannot break out of their own zone cleanly. They either can't breakout or they have to chip it high off the glass and just turn it over or ice it. |

They should have signed up Billy Carroll again. He was there last night. Should have replaced Cronin with Carroll. |

What's troubling is when they try to play a chip and chase game if they make it out of their own zone they never reach the puck before the opposing team. The winger is never cheating ahead prior to the dump in. I can't count how many times they dumped the puck and had the opposing team just easily skate it up the boards and out on the other side with zero resistance and that's against a team that played 3 games in 4 nights and played the night before.
Then when they try to skate it over the blue line after that doesn't work they can't even get past the red line in the neutral zone. Their neutral zone play has been abysmal the last three games. Bailey has been especially bad. I have no clue what he is still doing on that first line? Add Hickey and Vis since he's returned to the steaming pile of shat list. Hickey was god awful last night that pairing was tough to watch. |

at this point I'd replace cronin with the corpse of macho man, randy savage and give it a whirl. The system doesn't work. It always leaves the opposing defensemen up top with one guy chasing back and forth between them and the rest of the pk stays static. Two passes and the puck carrier is wide open to shoot with a screen in front and no one near him to block the shooting lanes.
It's ridiculous and you can see other teams know it and exploit it, but really, even if you hadn't seen it before, you could still spend about 10 seconds watching it and know how to beat it. It's garbage and the fact it continues without changes for 50 games now (just this year) is laughable and points to a complete lack of effort on the part of the coaching staff. when it's shown it doesn't work, you don't try the same thing harder. It doesn't fvcking work.

If a team fighting for a playoff spot scratches him against a team they may be fighting for a wild card spot with... I can't see him as a solution or a trade target. I thought Lee looked good with JT but not much else was going right last night. Thursday is a very important game. We need to start getting at least the loser point in these losses. A few of those would have helped.
Oh and I'm not suggesting you see him as a trade target, just that a lot of us have |

Yeah I'm not looking at him that way just mentioning it bcs it seems to be a never ending saga with him and Winnipeg. I thought Lee looked good with JT too but I think with Okposo out it's even more imperative to have that kid line together. You can put grabo on that line with Kulemin and it'll still score and be a threat while having some sembelance of a defensive game. Move Bailey down with Nielsen and Grabner who have had success in the past. Bailey is not a first line player nor will he ever be one.
You have to get Nelson going again. That kid line fore checked and played a complete game and Nelson is completely useless at this point playing on his present line. There is zero chemistry it's plain as day. Don't forget this guy was leading the team in points 20 games ago and was playing awesome. Have to give these guys the best chance to succeed and I'm not saying have them on for a few shifts and switch it back to something we already know doesn't work which is what Capuano does. Does anyone know why Grabovski was taken off the top line did I miss something? Serious question he seemed effective on that line. |

As long as the Isles base coaching decisions on friendships there will be problems. We've seen it with Dunham, Cappy, and Cronin. You just cannot bring Cappy back and especially when you have two very solid coaches available. I do not care if Cappy did not have a lot of talent to work with last year. Cappy still cannot coach regardless. |

There has to be something behind the scenes going on with that. Makes no sense from purely a hockey perspective. |

It does seem Kane and Jets will never work. Nielsen, Graber, and Bailey makes a ton of sense. Isles should put Grabo with Lee and JT and Strome with Nelson and Kuli. Nelson needs to be in the top six and you let the Nieslsen, Grabner, and Bailey line focus on D. |

It's definitely pretty public. Healthy scrathing one of their best fwds is a clear message. There were other known issues just not specific to what they were exactly just that they existed. Just trade the guy already. I'm sure they've tried before but I'm guessing they're expecting way too much? Nobody is going to over pay with all the baggage this guy seems to have. |

I'm so impressed with Leddy. That deal is going to turn out to be a huge steal for the isles. I'm more Impressed with his D then anything else. |

Their special teams are a complete disaster and have been all season. I don't care whether their PP is middle of the pack or not it's misfiring more often than not and is never effective in times when it's really needed like last night. There is too much talent on this team for this to continue like this. Special teams are taught for the most part. The PK is the worst I've seen since watching this team in the 70's maybe for any team I've ever watched? |

He is something else. Defensively incredible and he picks his spots to jump up like he has been in the league for a decade. He has been arguably our best defensive defenseman which is pretty funny with all that we were hearing when we first got him. |

He's been huge. Leddy has been very solid and has probably shocked a lot of people in terms of how well he has played D. |
