i think we can all agree that if there was ever a time for the islanders to hit a bit of a funk, now would be a good time to do it....not many teams go an entire year without losing focus or go on a little losing streak.
- LetsGoIsles

Agreed. However, that being said, need to win tonight. Have to reestablish what led to their success. Cannot afford to let this go to four or five games much less 10. All hands on deck.

Sounds like Kane needs surgery at least in the offseason, yet another reason to stay away

Why is this a good time? Every team thats in it has found its legs and the ones outside have hope. Im not sure id call this a great time to go in a funk? I do agree all teams go through it but if we lose the next couple of games to teams that should be easy points we are putting ourselves in a very precarious situation with both Philly and Florida playing good and having to climb back up against better teams. Thats no easy feat once you lose your foot hold. With that said I think they right the ship tonight as long as Capuano comes to his senses and puts some decent lines out there.

No, we should trade MDC, Reinhart, and Pulock for him. Maybe throw in Mayfield and Pelech to sweeten the deal

might not take that much.. I would trade Reinhardt.
- niteislander

If the isles re-sign Boychuk I'd be amenable to trading Griff IF he was part of a deal that brought back an elite player. I don't know what it is, but I am not high on EvNder Kane. I don't consider him elite.

I don't think Kane is a particularly special player, but he's been oft-injured and frankly for what someone is going to pay for him I'd rather keep the assets and appropriate them elsewhere.

its a 3 game losing streak...lets keep things in perspective. they are 11 points up on the 9th place team; if the glass is half full, after tonight they could be tied for 2nd. currently they are only 4 points out of first. im not worried. its a good time because 4 of the next 5 games are against teams either out of the hunt or west coast. i havent looked and could be wrong but im sure MOST teams have gone through a 3 game losing streak this season.

yes, i want them to win, but the ship isnt sinking.

I am keeping things in perspective. It's a 3 game losing streak as of now. When you said funk I thought you were saying in so many words if it keeps going. If they don't drop the next couple games including tonight no big deal but if they do they may find themselves in a little bit of a hole pretty quickly depending how other teams do. Yes most teams do go through a losing streak which I AGREED with you on it was whether this was a good time for it where I didn't agree.

If this streak gets extended against lesser teams that climb up will be all the harder when we are trying to gain ground back against legit ones. There's plenty of hockey to play still. I'm confident they'll get it back together but unfortunately that has a lot to do with Capuano doing the right thing IMO. During this 3 game skid he has not hopefully he took his smart pills today.

I'm going to aim a little higher I'd say tonight and Buffalo are must wins at this point. Have to get back on track

Capuano: Strait in for Visnovsky, Halak in goal for #Isles tonight.

Visnovsky a healthy scratch tonight. Capuano: "Last time we won a game Brian was in there. He deserves it."

The win was all Strait. So much for Cappy taking the smart pills.

hes not wrong...last win was with strait...and after tuesdays game, i cant blame cappy for the switch; strait has been much better than previously in the season.

In fairness Viz has been brutal the last couple of games. Strait actually was playing good the last couple of games he was in.

Fair enough. I guess also it might be better to get Strait playing again because how long can Vish go before another injury?

Last time they won I had a turkey sandwich for lunch and today I have roast beef! We're doomed!

Like his logic or not, Strait was playing well and Viz looked like a turd. Play whoever is best.

Maybe we will acquire a defender after all. Zidlicky might come cheap from NJD.

i could be wrong but i cant imagine a turkey sandwich has the same impact as a defensemen.

this isnt a superstitious thing, strait is the better player right now...

I get the kneejerk reaction to playing Strait over a healthy Lubo, but after my initial partial reaction of "what the f-" I realized that he had been playing pretty damn worthy of a bottom pairing spot in his last go-around, and frankly Viz has been pretty "blah".

Now that we've gone over all of this, Strait will turn the puck over on the first shift and the Flyers will score.

Getting another dman is looking more and more like a real need. Viz just cannot be counted on to stay in the lineup and an upgrade over Strait would be great.
