I went to the Tampa game at the coliseum in December with a large family group and we had the seats in the first row right behind the Islanders bench. My seat ended up just past the end of the bench. My view of everything from that blue line to the far end of the rink was blocked by the players sitting on the bench. I ended up watching everything in that end and when the play moved out switched to watching on the big screen. I hated it and would never sit there again but I watch the games and those seats are always filled and always have been. Someone will buy those obstructed view seats..
- PeteM

People sit near the players bcs the like seeing the players. Sitting with a wall in front of you is a little different.

I think your cap numbers are off a bit. Right now we have 44 mil tied up for next year, so to sign those guys we'll have close to 25 mil to fill out the roster and we don't need a whole lot of bodies. We have 10 mil in cap space right now with yashin coming off the cap next year (2.2) and then if we let lubo walk and bring in reinhart or pulock there's three mil we saved on that. I don't think cap is going to be an issue, but it will need to be managed correctly. That's why I don't see the point in trading assets for a ufa we don't really want to sign.

CapGeek is gone, so going by NHLNumbers...

The cap is at $69M this season. We have 66.474 tied up, plus a bonus cushion of 3.181. So we have 5.706 in current cap space.

Add Yashin's 2.2 to that, and you'll get 7.9

lubo - 4.75
carkner - 1.5
boulton - .775

total of those 3 - 7.025

which brings us to about $14M in cap space...you're right I was a little off, but we won't have $25M in space after this season. If we somehow got rid of Donovan that would add another 800k.

Since Donovan is far from guaranteed to go anywhere, I'm leaving that number out.

So $14M to re-sign Boychuk, Leddy, Nelson, Lee and Hickey. That's cutting it close, as I assume Boychuk and Leddy will probably be taking up in the neighborhood of $10M combined.

detached retina could be a career ender. I hope its not a severe case.

Don't let Rag fans find out where procedure being preformed—they'll drive around honking horns to distract the doctors.

Cptmjl or as I now refer to him "Scoop" reported detached retina from a contact lens.

No official word from Isles other than UBI/6-8weeks or that local LI newspaper that pretends to report news each day...Name escapes me...

It's eye surgery so I imagine the timetable is an estimate. Who knows how long it takes or if surgery has even been preformed yet. It may have happened at AMacs wedding - one last final FU from the guy. Thanks Amac.

They have scheduled KO Bobblehead night on Feb 14th. Wonder if they're updating all the heads with an eyepatch?

God I wish someone took that site over and kept it running.

I'm confident they'll make it work without losing any real talent. But adding Kane's hit to the books would be silly.

I've been getting a call a week from a guy from the Islanders about Brooklyn tickets for over a month now. I've just been ignoring them but I guarantee you if I wanted to they'd be selling me a plan. I think they still have my name and number from when I bought one of those family four packs over five years ago.
- PeteM

Oh yeah they are calling every lead they have because from what I hear the sales are terrible right now, with the Isles being a very good product. From what I hear there is a run on the cheap obstructed view seats and the people can watch the game on the HD off center very beautiful scoreboard.

guessing if they've predicted 6-8 weeks the surgery went well, otherwise I'd expect them to have shut him down for the year and see how it went. Could still happen, I'm no doctor.
- Isles_since_6

They won't let him back on the ice until its 100% If that thing tears again he is not only done playing for good he'll pretty much have only one good eye the rest of his life

Yep. I think they said 6-8 weeks which could be the case depending on the severity. If its serious he may never get all of his vision back but I think it probably wasnt a complete seperation being he finished that game unless it didnt happen in that game?
