Do you think Nets fans would go to see a game there is they couldn't see one of the baskets? It's absurd. - nyisles7
Then don't buy an obstructed seat, its that simple |

I can't argue with your numbers however, how many of these people are hockey fans and how many are Islander fans?
I would think the % of Nassau and Suffolk counties hockey fans are Islanders fans. But we will see in the near future.
Again I hope your right and Barclays is a huge success. Anything that helps the Islanders I am surely routing for . - nyisles7
this is the unknown.
the only comparable thing we have to look at is the Nets. they came from garbage, no one followed them, they werent selling seats in jersey and they werent very cool.
they came in and all of a sudden guys like jayz and others, are interested in buying part of the team or being seen at the games; i dont know much about bball (other than it sucks) but i believe the nets arent good this year. I cant speak to ticket sales but id bet my left nut that sales are SIGNIFICANTLY better than they were in jersey.
again, i cant speak about the unknown, but if i were betting, id say BK will work out for the isles |

While it may be difficult for Barclays to sell season tickets early, if the Isles show up in the playoffs and can win a round or two I bet it’s going to help in a big way. That said, regardless of attendance, we’ll see the Isles get a hefty chunk of guaranteed cash from Barclays. That’ll help the team and if they keep winning (no reason to think they won’t) it’ll help |

Hockey rink is bigger . ice surface will be off center of scoreboard which pushes one end of the ice out past where the basketball hoop would be on that end. I don't know exactly how many seats have obstructed view . Still should be a good experience for non obstructed view seats

Agreed but basketball is a lot more popular sport than hockey in general and i'm gonna bet even more so in Brooklyn. Again hope it works out for them I know the extra revenue Barclays guaranteed them will.
Lets go Islanders!!! |

@NYIslanders - Colin McDonald has been recalled on an emergency basis, the water bottles needed to be filled for today's practice and nobody in the locker room felt like doing it
@NYIslanders - Colin McDonald has been returned to BPT and his emergency recall status cancelled, the water bottles have been adequately filled and transported to the bench to hydrate all actual NHL players |

I think they'll do good for a while at least. Depending on how many obstructed seats there are will determine how long the novelty takes to wear off. No fan is going to pay good money to have the goal completely obstructed. At least I wouldn't. Maybe they'll work it out some way that the seating won't be like that? |

UIF pointed it out the other day he said he took things for granted when he was up here. I never saw or heard that interview. Pretty insane that a guy that was a lifer in the AHL took things for granted when he finally got his shot. Between the money and everything else that comes with playing in the NHL you just don't show up playing a game to make millions. Joke |

Of course not and they will be the cheapest seats in the place just like the obstructed seats at the coliseum are the cheapest now. Plus as long as they are good just like here on the island the people will show. If they suck they won't show up just like here on the Island |

It doesn't sound like hank was in much pain, so I'm wondering what they found that they're worried about. |

Yeah they'll sell them for cheaper and if they're winning they should be able to sell them. It also really depends on how obstructed they are? One of my buddies said he couldn't see from the blue line into the goal in one area that had a lot of seats. I don't know how many people are going to pay for that even at a discounted rate? Maybe they'll fix it or find a way to sell them(make them luxury boxes or something IDK?)? |

I was watching that game and it really didn't look like much when it happened was kind of shocked when he went down. A player lifted his mask and the puck went into his throat just as his mask was up but the puck went off his jesey and just kind of fluttered up. Didn't look like much when I was watching it but I guess it was evidently. |

one of the MAJOR and HUGE upgrades that gets forgotten is the insanely nicer scoreboard (which is actually closer to the obstructed seats). what the coliseum has now is a joke!! its like watching mario brothers on nintendo; the big screen at barclays is beautiful; and ive spoken to people who find themselves watching the screen (barclays/msg) more than the actual ice/court. |
