Boy oh boy....
Same trends worsening:
Blown coverages and no physical presence in D zone allow many high quality chances
SOG against alarmingly high
No control of the neutral zone
Lack of urgency
Whining to the officials
Why?
Lack of size in the middle
Lack of urgency on the boards on both ends
Too much perimeter play in the O zone
Too timid to risk penalty minutes for a little more sandpaper
Solutions?
TT to Rockford in favor of Rasmussen - more NHL ready guy - defensively responsible
Carbomb for more grit
Fire under asses of Bickell, Richards
Call up Johns and Dahlbeck for some minutes to shore up third pairing, and some size
Stop whining. No matter what they may think or want, there is still checking in the NHL. Man up.
Here is to hoping the coaching staff finds the mojo again. History says they will.

Rasmussen is already with the big club. I wonder if he'll play next game while Q sends a message to somebody else.

I would almost prefer seeing Ben Smith at 2C right now. |

Wow a 1-3 trip so far - usually a marker of where the team is...yikes. You've still got what almost 30 games left...and we know this team is better than this. But a move or two should happen here before the deadline...the question is will there be?
Really bad play by Richards there early and that opened the door.
They did a nice job killing the 5 on 3a bit later on but not a whole lot else...
Have to give some credit to Minni who've been playing for their lives of late. But the Hawks sure looked like they'd rather be anywhere else tonight. Now onto Winnipeg who've absolutely killed us this season with as you mentioned with their own Varlamov in Hutch. I'd say that's a big game for sure with how the Hawks have lost 3 at home to the Peg this season.
At least the Hawks will come home tonight for a couple of days before heading up there...
And then a Sunday matinee at St. Louis...who I'm sure will try to run the Hawks out of the building early on national TV. - DK002
hjalmarsson had three tries at the puck on that first goal. that was a terrible play by him. |

What was the point of bringing Rasmussen up if Q had no intention of dressing him for any of the games?
Only thing I can think of is he is getting coasting lessons from Brad Richards and is having difficulty mastering it. |

he hasn't scored a goal since november. not sure he is the answer there. |

his numbers don't look like those of an offensive guy. think he is more of a 4th line guy. i don't see how you move kruger up either. he isn't very good offensively. |

Q' s aid in the trib, that he doesn'twant Carcillo to change, well than, god dam it Joel , let him play & ring up a few guys and set the tone. Did I just hear JIMMY Hayes with 14 goals this year? How many does Krueger have? How many does Ben Smith Have? WTF Stan? Next he"ll trade Seabrooke & Hjalmersson for a couple of 5"7er's . |

think this team needs to be sellers at the deadline. they are not good enough to win anything. they have some valuable pieces that teams with a chance would pay a premium on. sharp for one. though he is playing good. kruger, smith, bickel and shaw might fit on some teams. start trying to build for the future. this team is going to have trade players soon. may as well get as much as you can for them. |

Nooooo, don't need to be sellers, they just need a couple of ass kicken freight trains that can play! Enough of this smurfy perimeter dead ass play. The GMneeds to fall out of love with some of his little ducklings. Toews, Kane, Saad Hossa are off limits, unsure about Sharp, everyone else should be open for discussion amongst fellow GM's ,Bowman is a dumpster diver, I 'd like for them to take a flier on Zac Kassian, Q will resurrect that kid plus he's tough as sh it also. He won't take no garbage from opposing players, would love him, Carbomb & Shaw out there against the Blues when they start their crap! |

Blues win again.
Preds win again.
Jets leading...
Beat goes on... - ArlingtonRob
noted that earlier....down 8 vs preds, 6 vs blues and jets can tie the hwks with a win and the hawks end this pitiful trip vs the blues....
the coming 8 game homestand is looking awfully important if the hawks are going to make a run for the division |

I may be misremembering, but long home stands often go poorly...and lately the Hawks have been marginal at home.
This club will be fighting for one of the final spots come late March...too many points left on the ice this year, wayyyy too many points. |

i think they would get better value now. teams that are close would really want a player like sharp i think. there are too small to win anything. some teams might want a guy like bickell for the playoffs. not sure they can get as much after the season. maybe they get a piece that helps for the future. |

I'll be looking forward to "pitchers and catchers reporting" if that effort repeats itself. - ArlingtonRob
Kane is having a career year with Richards as his pivot. Why on gods green earth would anyone want to out Smith in the top six?

It's so simple...Stan just needs to go out and get some Lucic and Secord type guys. Why can't he see that? |

>This was the worst game of the year and there are no excuses for it
>More alarming is that this year's Hawks have had other games where their effort was worthy of a bag skate, too
>Versteeg is very much missed -- not only for how well he was playing -- but just as importantly for the time on ice competition his presence created
>What we are seeing now is a roster where no one feels challenged to keep their job -- or fight for their TOI -- everyone is comfy and secure in their "place" on the team
>Regardless of how the Hawks play in the next 2 games -- this Hawks team does not pass the eye test (and a win over the Ducks who were playing a back to back doesn't mean a whole lot -- especially with the number of clunkers this Hawks team has produced this year)
>This Hawks team needs some new players with size and hunger -- and please no Carcillo
>Memo to SBow: standing pat this year will not bring home a Cup -- time to make a significant deal |
