B schenn prob wasn't to eager in engaging in a fight. He's prob still recovering from smacking his face against the ice in Winnipeg. Not going to fault him for that
- Just5

Schenn has also taken Simmonds' skate blade to the face and returned to the game a few weeks back. Seems tough to me.

Okay, so the guy likes porn stars. Honestly, I don't care.
- MJL

If he's playing at an All-Star level on the ice, he could be Ron Jeremy off the ice for all I care.

So Simmonds is a coward because Scott Laughton took a hard, clean check and Simmonds didn't go after the guy immediately? Sorry, I thought we applauded clean checks, not demanded a guy get beat up for delivering one.

I demand that no matter what kind of hit it is.

There's not a single defenseman on this roster that I wouldn't listen to offers for.

In the case of Del Zotto, he's young, a pending RFA and brings a skill set that normally is fairly expensive to acquire.

- Jsaquella

Exactly what I was thinking. Assume he "develops" a little more into a consistently reliable defender who can move the puck, we could possibly have him on a super bargain deal. If we can get him resigned now to a fair deal, I think that'd be great.

That's my view as well. He's not a big guy and he does have some issues being a consistent defensive player, but he's not scared of the physical game.

Best number 12 is Kerr. 4 time 50 goal guy, single season record for PPGs, a mountain of a man that was a bedrock player for some great Flyer teams.

Also, he should be in the HHOF, IMO

- Jsaquella

Agreed, on all counts.

Tim Kerr might be the most underrated athlete in the history of Philadelphia sports.

So because he took a run at a fat dude a few days ago, he's now the bravest man in the world?

Also, I've played hockey at a semi-pro level against players drafted by NHL teams and, yes, you can usually tell if a hit is clean or not. If you have an obstructed view, that's one thing. But I never had a problem if a teammate of mine got hit hard (or knocked out) by a clean hit, and I never had a problem fighting a guy twice my size (well, maybe 5 inches and 45 ponds heavier) if he delivered a reckless dirty hit to a teammate. Then again, I was a 7th defenseman, so I wasn't out much, we usually had other players who took care of that.

- jmatchett383

You know what? You win. I don't know what you win but you win it. I'm not getting banned over this goofiness. I've already stated my case but as you've said before, the apocalypse must be upon us.

Yep. Dude didn't fight a guy who boarded Voracek when he was standing right next to him. I obviously want him traded and am calling for the apocalypse.

Glad I win though. My King of Internet coronation is coming up, and I need some of that sweet, sweet victory sauce.

You were also wanting them to trade for Mike Richards last week.

I never said you wanted Schenn traded but you are calling out his lack of courage and character. Are you calling him a whimp. I don't agree with you and I've explained why at length.

Well, you know that every Flyer ever traded wins a Cup with another team.

So, logically, if we start reacquiring those players, we should win all of the Cups. All of them ever.

Then again...if we traded players to get them all back...then we'd be trading players again, and they'd win Cups.

Damn flawless logic.

Your reasoning was that he took a run at a fat dude. That's "explaining at length" why you don't agree?

I don't have a problem disagreeing, but I don't think I'd say you've explained that at length.

And I thought I won. What gives?

I don't think MDZ was ever bad enough this season to warrant that benching. I've been more than happy with his performance and want him signed to a reasonable deal.

He's no giant, but I wouldn't consider him small. He's 6ft, just shy of 200 pounds, that's not too small for a guy who can effectively move the puck. I'd be happier than a pig in sh** if MDZ could keep his offensive skills, AND become legitimately consistent in his own end.

He had a run of bad play, but it wasn't worse than other "more veteran" players. There's always a pecking order that a coach has no matter who he is, and personal bias comes into play. He's obviously not one of Chief's favorites.

I could not believe the luck our players were having during that recent stretch with skate cuts. MDZ got sliced by Briere, Giroux sliced in the Carolina game... then Schenn.. it was just nuts the bad luck and lucky it wasn't worse than it was.

I just watched it again, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXITDdcZcRo (sorry for the link and not imbedding; I'm not good at the internet)

I don't think he just pushes him and walks away. I can't see how else he goes into it. It's not like Granberg starts throwing them as soon as Schenn arrives. And it's not like schenn backs down. I think the response is fine, but I'm not going to be upset if he came in all guns blazing and started throwing them.

Also, it's not like Granberg jumped into the back of Jake either. Jake is turning and Granberg pushed him at the wrong time.

Just my two cents.
