I'm not old enough to have seen Kerr or Dorny play so I can't speak of them. But Gange was so much fun to watch growing up. He was definitely my favorite player for a long time. The guy just defined the word clutch. I still think him scoring that goal in his first game back 2 years ago was the greatest thing I've ever seen. And it made it even more sweet that it was at home. I will forever seeing miss him in Orange.

Kerr and LeClair were beasts for many years and had some truly amazing seasons, but I'll tell you what: Simon Gagne's 47-goal season was absolute Beast Mode for an entire damn season because of how he scored them -- some of the nicest damn goals I've ever seen

He doesn't have the raw numbers of some of the other players, but I don't know that Gagne's peak years didn't see him in the conversation for best pure scorer at LW this franchise has had in the years I've watched them

Good call!

You were also wanting them to trade for Mike Richards last week.

Sather really Richarded him around in the last negotation, and Poile just dumped him after they torpedoed his value... not sure he and his agent would be up for doing teams any favors this go around.
- Tomahawk

Qualify him. I'd another wants to offer sheet him. Then make a decision.

Yea he was the man. He may not have the same raw numbers but given the era that each player played in I would say his numbers are just as impressive as the others. Again this is coming from someone who has never seen the other two play live.

A lot of people were satisfied with the Del Zotto signing. I was happy with it because he's young, came cheap and the only real option.

The same BSchenn who took a run at Buff the game before, you say is a coward?

Short memory jmatch

- Marc D

So because he took a run at a fat piece of garbage, it's cool that he nudged a guy who just blasted your top player's face into the glass? Heck, even Raffl would have done SOMETHING.

I really don't wanna get pulled into a long debate about this but Simmonds was two steps away from Niskanen when he blew through Laughton and did nothing. Like Saturday, the Capitals' game was a one goal game. I can't remember who hit Voracek but he took a penalty and you have to be careful not to negate it. If Schenn did so, then we're complaining that Schenn costs us a Power Play. I've been accused of liking the goon stuff by someone who will remain nameless but even I know you've gotta keep a cool head in a 1 goal game. There is plenty of time for payback.

There's a difference between negating a 2-minute PP to stand up to someone who just boarded your top scorer and running a guy for no reason and taking a 5-minute major.

I've been very happy with Del Zotto.
He is like Gus but much better in all aspects. They need at least one guy in each pair who can bring a little offense and not get killed playing D in their own zone.

I wasn't a fan initially, but he's definitely proved me wrong. He's played relatively well all year long.

You called the kid a coward and history shows he isn't. If Brayden Schenn is a coward, you have to accuse Wayne Simmonds of being one too. Neither guy is.

So Simmonds is a coward because Scott Laughton took a hard, clean check and Simmonds didn't go after the guy immediately? Sorry, I thought we applauded clean checks, not demanded a guy get beat up for delivering one.

As well as he's played I'd be ok if we end up trading Del Zotto. I know that's blasphemy to some of you but to flip him for anything at the trade deadline is a win/win for us as we picked him up for practically nothing.
Maybe not my first choice to leave but I won't cry if he does.

I don't think Schenn is a coward plus look at the game situation at the time.

Jake was ok and played on the same PP.

If he throws a punch at the Leaf he gets an instigator penalty and a misconduct call.
He did the right thing for that situation.

I agree and this is why I thought it was pretty silly that a lot of people made a big stink out of the Giroux cop thing. As long as your not a total scum bag off the ice (Tibbets) I don't really care what you do as long as you bring your A game to the ice.
- JonnyHammerstix

Right? I try to not pay attention to a lot of the negative attention that players get for whatever it may be at a certain time. mdz's porn stars, Giroux grabbing the cop, ribierio's alleged drug use/"behavioral Problems", Voynov's charges, Seguin being a party animal, Varlamov's assault charges/ politics or whatever, etc. They're people too and I think people forget that. All of has have done some stupid idiotic things, and if we were celebrities/sports stars we'd all be lit up for it too.

Okay. Hope the next time someone boards Giroux, Simmonds and Schenn keep calm and cool and shake the guy's hand for giving them a PP.

It's not blasphemy -- I want him around, but if you get offered something you like that suits your vision more than he does, then make the move and don't look back

He's played well, but it's not like he's the second-coming of Nick Lidstrom. Don't give him away, but if there's something out there that makes sense, they shouldn't just say no just because he's on the roster

Absolutely there is a difference, but your original comment was that B.Schenn is a "yellow-bellied bastard," which is something with which I don't agree.

They are two different arguments.

In a fast pace game, does a player have time to decide what's considered clean and what's considered dirty? A rookie was hit hard and he was down. Simmonds challenged Niskanen from the bench after the play. Simmonds kept a cool head until the play was over. As pointed out, Schenn took a run at Dustin Byfuglien one game before on Thursday. Not exactly a guy you wanna mess with.

B schenn prob wasn't to eager in engaging in a fight. He's prob still recovering from smacking his face against the ice in Winnipeg. Not going to fault him for that

So because he took a run at a fat dude a few days ago, he's now the bravest man in the world?

Also, I've played hockey at a semi-pro level against players drafted by NHL teams and, yes, you can usually tell if a hit is clean or not. If you have an obstructed view, that's one thing. But I never had a problem if a teammate of mine got hit hard (or knocked out) by a clean hit, and I never had a problem fighting a guy twice my size (well, maybe 5 inches and 45 ponds heavier) if he delivered a reckless dirty hit to a teammate. Then again, I was a 7th defenseman, so I wasn't out much, we usually had other players who took care of that.

There's not a single defenseman on this roster that I wouldn't listen to offers for.

In the case of Del Zotto, he's young, a pending RFA and brings a skill set that normally is fairly expensive to acquire.
