If you keep Stewart and Foligno, that should be enough protection for the top 9 along with Girgens IMO
- homiedclown

Agreed. My point was that unless we get a good return for Stewart it might be worth exploring the option of keeping him.

He has been the best player on the team the last 6 weeks.

I am on the fence with him moving forward, esp with Nolan as coach.

On your 2nd point, I think it's valid. However, organizationally we have too many bodies already. You can only have so many players signed to contracts in your system. It would be great to package up some picks and move up for a higher selection or even get an NHL ready player, but you can't operate under the assumption that you can make that happen.
- Pierceme69

I agree completely. However, there is a difference between acquiring picks and using them. We should absolutely package them for something (e.g. a single pick or player). At worst you could surely flip the second round picks for picks in future years.

How does Nolan factor in to the decision?

No need to worry about Teddy. He's getting kicked upstairs at the end of this season. I'd bet you that beaner.

Well that's a good point. We could definitely flip picks for picks in future seasons.

He has played like a legit second line winger the last 6 weeks

14 points in 19 games

- homiedclown

He played like a 4th line boarder line AHLer from 10/9-12/13.

4 points in 39 gp

It's these two stats as to why when he is moved will make it 4 teams in 5 seasons.

Inconsistent unmotivated play has been his MO.

I just think we have wanted a guy like Stewart who would go toe-to-toe with Lucic since Miller got trucked and now we have one. We shouldn't be so motivated to get rid of him.

That's what I'm thinking. In a dream world we could turn our absurd amount of picks into future draft picks so that we could keep this thing going for many years. And there is always someone that falls in love with someone at the top of the second round that will want to trade away their first the following year.

No deal in place by 3/1 11:59:59 to resign him then he should be moved.

Well absolutely. You can't let him walk for nothing. It's entirely possible he doesn't want to stay here also. I just think it's a conversation that should be less cut and dry than most people do.

At some point we need to let the Lucic thing go. The vast majority of teams don't have guys that will fight Lucic and they seem to be fine. Don't get me wrong - that is one of the reasons to like him.

I can see him getting buried in the 4th line/bench role with Nolan.

Like Boyes was under Ruff

Foligno is also suppose to be that guy

Lemieux will be that guy

Thing is if Lemieux can be half the player his father was is the same thing said about Foligno.

Will he drop the gloves every now and then? I think when the next wave of prospects shows up Foligno will be one of the guys that is a casualty.

what is Martin's book value $12?

I am going to bid on 1981-82 OPC # 107 Jari Kurri Rookie Card, it's at 99 cents

I think Deslauriers is going to stick around even if it's the 4th line

If Foligno gets moved, Deslauriers and Lemieux will be suffice up front. Girgens will step up if needed.

High 20 low 8.

The Kurri is 40 high 12 low.

That Orr went for 225.

Lemieux shows that edge that most players are not consistent in showing. I think he will be special. He could be Bob Probert in his prime.

Lucic is the closest to Probert in his prime and even that is a stretch.

62 points 398 PIM in the same season and was the most feared guy in the league. Think of the points he could have put up had he of stayed out of the box.
