NJ Edmonton? Should get a win out of those two. And tommorow no Rinne and these are the kind of games the leafs win
- Santo_44

they are already calling it a "statement game" referring to the 9-2 blowout

Trade Phaneuf, Robidas, Lupul for best offers. Sign Franson, move on with life, draft & develop.
- Colin Dambrauskas

I'd give him 4M. He already rejected 4.6M on long term. See ya bud. Let someone else make these mistakes.

Whats the McDavid percentage then?!

Also is it a lottery for picks 1,2 and 3?

- iTOLDu

All non playoff teams have a chance now.

Burke doesn't have as much say as you'd think....Treliving running the show.
- Colin Dambrauskas

Yeah I guess so. Probably a good thing. One thing I likes about Burke though was he had the balls to do things.

I honestly think that if you don't give Phaneuf the C a few years ago, this wouldnt be an issue. But, you made him the captain, signed him as "the guy" and he's...well....not the guy. So now you've kind of screwed yourself. If you use Phaneuf effectively, he could be very useful. But he doesn't have it in him to be "the guy"...I think the sample size is big enough by now.
- Colin Dambrauskas

That's why I think he's a #2: he tried admirably to be the #1 for all these terrible terrible years in Toronto under massive scrutiny 24/7, I think you put him beside a Doughty, Chara, Suter, Keith, Weber and his fancy stats, points, and perception are through the roof.

Yeah but do they re-do a lottery after the 1st pick? So lottery for 1st pick-winner gets taken out, 2nd pick-everyone elses odds go up-pick winner..etc.? just for top 3 picks or is it just the number 1 pick

Me too. I think within 2 years, he will prove himself a legit #1

Just my personal opinion. I am just excited to build around and develop our own core of guys. Guys who have only ever been Maple Leafs.

I can't wait. I'm literally jealous of teams that have these great core groups that they didn't have to blow their brains out to acquire

- TheThrill

It's up to the Leafs scouting, to recognize a legit number 1B or 2nd, to play with Rielly, currently on another teams roster and make that deal. I'd like to say Seth Jones, because he shoots right and is a bigger stronger player who can skate. If they could ever make that deal, with Nashville, then you have solidified your top pairing, for the next 12 years. They could play half the game together, something like Pronger and Niedermayer.

Franson was traded to Mtl for Gorges until Gorges refused to go.
- Champ

29th = 13.5% : which was 18.8% last season.
28th = 11.5% : which was 14.2% last season.
27th = 9.5% : which was 10.7% last season.
26th = 8.5% : which was 8.1% last season.
25th = 7.5% : which was 6.2% last season.
24th = 6.5% : which was 4.7% last season.
23rd = 6% : which was 3.6% last season.
22nd = 5% : which was 2.7% last season.
21st = 3.5% : which was 2.1% last season.
20th = 3.0% : which was 1.5% last season.
19th = 2.5% : which was 1.1% last season.
18th = 2.0% : which was 0.8% last season.

He doesn't fit our > 25 age group either. By the time we're successful, he's on the decline. I think we'll get a really good return for him though; I can't think of a team that's entering into the playoffs that doesn't need a big physical RHD with a shot like his.

Well he's putting up some very good numbers and his defensive play may very well be 100% better than last year.

Not much to complain about imo.

This being said, whoever ends up giving him a Niskanen-like contract will probably regret it in a few years and the Leafs should trade him for as much as they can get while his value is high... in my humble opinion of course.

Less hustle/work ethic.

Watching the two teams...one team wants to win/compete....the other looks like they're already thinking about that massage tomorrow.

Exactly..but he's signed as the #1 guy...you need to realize the mistake and move away from it. Let Rielly develop into the role...just make sure you surround him with the proper vets, ie. not Phaneuf?
