The 5 pieces you keep in the rebuild are Rielly, Kadri, one of the Goalies (Likely Bernier), JVR and either Kessel or Gardiner.

I know Gardiner gets ripped on a lot, but I can't imagine getting anything worthwhile back. Kessel will only be traded for a deal like Nash ended up going to NYR in. Yeah, the talk of Jones + 1st has happened a lot in here. You're more likely to see something like;

1st, Josi, salary, b-level prospect (Leafs should aim hard at Kamanev as a big power center, or Doughtry as a nice defensive piece going forward). Salary would be someone like Stalberg. Leafs likely add a prospect like Finn and or/ 4th or later picks.

I doubt he takes a one year deal.n he'll want some term. He had a great year last until he got injured.
He's been ok but not great on a horrible team this year
