Deadline trades are getting too expensive for my tastes... - mrhattrick27
the scary thing is, if the Rangers aren't willing to go all in on a Vermette deal, a team we play in the playoffs probably will. |

Miller paying for his turnover the other night. Thought he played well after the line shuffle. - airjan23
Dear lord, mine as well involve Miller on a big acquisition. Vigneault has it in for him and I don't see how this changes anytime soon. |

Have a bad feeling the Rangers will involve Miller on a Vermette deal. |

I think the Rangers two second rounders equate to some team's first, if Slats is willing to throw in both of em - jimbro83
JT Miller and two 2nd rounders for Hanzal? Christ that's a brutal trade 5 years from now. |

I think they'd do Miller in a Hanzal, not in a Vermette |

No. No. No.
Did I mention No? Rangers can't do what they did in the mid-late 90s to try and compete for a cup every season. Can't gut your organization of prospects and picks to try and win one cup. |

Shouldn't involve Miller in either if you ask me.
Vermette is not worth the alleged ransom media outlets are suggesting. |

Agreed. Unfortunately, that looks like the asking price for an impact deadline acquisition. We can go the route of 7th for Carcillo via Santorelli but if we want a legitimate player that can slot into the top 6 and can produce like Vermette or Hanzal then it will be way too steep.
Sather won't gut this team though. |

You mean when Hank is 37 years old!
If management thinks the team has a chance to compete for the cup again this season, they will need to do something about the abysmal face off percentage. If it means a deal or two to do so, they make it.
They on the business of trying to win now, not worry about what the team or league for that matter wii look like in 5 years, or even two years from now. |

That's fine if we were talking about a deadline acquisition of a Nash or Richards that we were discussed in the past (before acquiring the player in the offseason) but we are talking about a 3rd line player for 1 playoff run. Is that worth using big time future assets? I get the push the chips in the middle with the Hank window thing. I would get it for a big fish (see Iginla to Pens) but a 3rd liner? Just don't think it is worth it. It doesnt seem like a "puts us over the edge" type of acquisition to me. |

Sather's phone is busy. Probably from the influx of calls from people begging for him to trade for Gagner after they read this post. |

Katie Strang, citing a source “familiar with the team’s thinking,” says that it is “unlikely” the Rangers will trade pending UFA Mats Zuccarello before the March 2nd trade deadline. (ESPN NY) |

All the deals that are being floated just suck. I agree with you in that the market people are talking about is just too pricey. I really have no interest in even talking to Arizona if that is there price.
If the Rangers are going to include prime assets in a trade, go see if you can get Turris from Ottawa ( just an example). If you are shooting for a third line rental player, the cost should be alot cheaper. |

Yeah, that was probably the best one and only one. Other than that, almost every commercial and the halftime show made me feel like I accidentally turned on the lifetime channel.

Sather has been able to get impact players at the trade deadline for very little. Hopefully he can swing something with his buddy Maloney and maybe send a young center like Lindberg back to Phoenix, or Tambelini, or a Danny Kristo and one of the seconds or next years first. You can not trade Moore or Miller for a rental though, both guys would be key in our depth come the playoffs. The Rangers are so close right now and their window is open, you have to load up if you can. Come the offseason we could lose a few key players and that will take us down a few notches.
Hanzel on a line with Hayes, what a perfect player for Hayes to learn from. We really could use some more size down the middle. |
