I am guessing that in order for those blow bags to fully enjoy the Flames relative success is to do so in direct comparison to the misfortune of their northern neighbors. I for one, cannot wait for relevant match-ups to occur between our two teams.

Doughty and Kopitar are both 1st overall talents..this years 3-4th overall likely will be more of a Carter, Jordan Staal level player. Very good players but not franchise altering.

I would give up ANY 3 players (Except RNH) on the Oilers plus both of their 1st this year and any other draft pick to get the lottery winning pick.

McDavid is trending higher than Crosby did in his draft year..

but even if I concede that mcdavid is a cut above, looking at what the the oilers needs are and the addition wed ask to oel if we for sure had the pick, the oilers could be far better off trading it.

but the real crux of the conversation here is that we have nowhere near a guarantee at the first pick at this point.
so we gamble and get a young franchise defender for the pick which could be anywhere from 1-5.
i think we'll move down abit, but even if we don't and stay at second last, theres like 87% chance we wont get mcdavid.
that said; i take oel over the unknown pick.
there is no way one can honestly value any of strome, hanifin, provorov etc MORE than oel. that's just crazy and hyping prospects way too much

and Giordano is the man. without him, nowhere near the playoffs.
