Thats great if the pick ends up being anything after 1st..but if somehow the Oilers win the draft lottery it would be so sad to see McDavid go to the Coyotes than the Oilers. OEL might be a very good defenceman....but not a generational player at all.
- oilers2k10

That's where the conditions come in.oilers pick is top 2 ,Yotes throw in their 1st.It can all be worked out with conditions.

I don't know Jero, it's just that I don't see the work ethics on any of these entitled kids. I hope he is not being a wimp. But I don't see him (or others) pushing the envelope as hockey players used to. Even good 'ol Cogliano was a warrior..... You don't see that anymore.

Lot's of players play hurt. I'm pretty sure Hall came back early when he had that ankle injury earlier in the season. He definitely isn't a wussy.

New world man. No point in ruining your retirement just for a couple of games that don't matter.

I see your point. Generation Y as a whole are a bunch pansies. Have you heard my theory that we need a 3rd World War, draft /conscription to either wipe out or make men out of these useless crybabies?

Only if Gen X is running middle management for WW3. Seriously, who else knows when Gen Y'ers need a punch in the face more than Xers?

Haven't heard that particular theory, but I see it in the workplace every day. It's all half assed..... Sad really, that's why when a hard worker appears people think he or she walks on water.

Gen X'ers need a punch in the face for their parenting. Not letting kids get dirty, or ride their tricycles without helmets, not beating the shut out of them when they had it coming . We created this monster.

Totally.my dad is 71 and still works part time in the trades because he gets bored. I hear the stories about these kids Everytime I visit.
And the kids at my work are bad too. What I find funny is how how hard a 17 yr old girl works compared to her male counterpart. It's pathetic, and these boys should be ashamed.

but then that takes out the incentive for the yotes.

the only reason theyd deal for it now, is because of the opportunity that it might be the first or second straight up, knowing wed want more later if in fact it does become that first or second.

straight up right now is a gamble for both gm's. probably one that the two gm's would be unwilling to make. so much at risk. but definetely interesting to talk about for us.

we have a chance to get a franchise defender for a pick that wouldn't do nearly as much for us as oel would (anything past pick 2), but might lose value depending where we pick. (1 or 2)
and they have a chance to get a generational franchise saving forward for less than most teams would ask when they know for sure they do have that first pick.

all that said, I suppose the conditions is what takes the gamble away from the gm's as u mentioned. but why not just wait till its in concrete than give conditions now?

OEL and Mitch Marner or Dylan Strome dont equal Connor Mcdavid in my opinion.
That would be like trading Eberle and Hall for Crosby. Two B+ players dont equal one A+ player.
