Thanks Bill. What is your opinion of Straka so far? He recorded his first point the other night, and I didn't see any glaring mistakes.
The Phantoms loss makes me question what they were thinking. I just hope that they aren't picking up the bad habits of the Flyers. If so, is this the next generation's mind set? Better put up those cell phones, and start focusing on hockey.
Anyway, I hope that Straka does well at this level. I also, hope that McD can pick up his game tonight. I don't know if it's new team jitters or he is just having an off season this season.

I haven't seen the phantoms play much but Hershey is a top AHL team and looking at the Phantoms, they have lost Laughton, Straka (just recently of course), Alt and Ghost. that is a lot of talent to lose for a borderline team. Considering where they have been over the last several years, this year's team is a real step up in talent and level of play.

Streit and/or Mac would do the trick. Moving Vinny or Umberger would be just too much to hope for.

But that deal kills us, fills one hole, but opens 2 more.

That's a very fair offer too. I do wonder if they're fishing for another lotto pick tho. They'll probably already be picking top 4. If they add another lotto pick they might end up odds on favorites to win the lottery.

I wouldn't have a problem giving up Coots because 2/3 line Centers come up in trades and FA far more often than young franchise D men do.

Easier to find forwards in free agency than a 23 year old franchise defenseman.

Even if it's just a couple of stopgap guys for a season or two.

As of yesterday their GM is on record saying everyone not named Doan is available.

For one, none of the defense prospects they have project to be as good as OEL. Second, OEL is 23 years old and already an elite defenseman. It's a lot easier to find forward depth, especially for this team, than another OEL

And FWIW, I doubt that offer is enough to get OEL.
