Player to be named later. I'm not sure what low lever prospect they have interest in, but Winnik can't be worth that much. |

Perrons not a net front guy. He'd be dead in a week.
Say they keep Horny on their, you'd lose Perron and your right shot from that side unless you truly kept 71 up top and used Letang there instead.
That just wreaks of shorthanded issues..... - 87_71_11_29
Haha that's actually very true, but he could play a perimeter style of net front like Jussi used to do on our second unit. |

So you're putting Sid or Jagr at the net? |

[quote=jmatchett383]The Penguins are getting Jagr.
1) He doesn't really have a fit- Half wall on the PP, and Spalings spot on the Geno line.
2) The Penguins don't have the assets required to acquire him compared to what other teams can offer- Pouliot or Dumo gets it done with a pick; both of these guys will not be NHLers with the Pens.
3) They don't (currently) have the cap space to add him.-Simple fix, Im not saying how but cap space can be made if its needed.
If you want to have fun debating scenarios and proposals, that's fine. But it's not likely to happen. |

No Jagr would play half wall, and Sid would play down low below the goal line; the spot where he is with out a doubt the most effective. |

Pouliot? The guy is more than ready for NHL action. He will be here all next season, and if I was there he would be here now. |

Well then I guess Snow will just have to offer more. - Cptmjl
He very well may, but I heard he lost his check book in his abnormally large goalie pads. |

He is out for at least the next 2 games. He is eligible to come off LTIR either the 4th or 5th, so not sure if he would be able to play the Feb 4 game against Edmonton. - PensFan1103
Thanks. Just trying to understand if this a short term thing or a long term one. |

For me, I think that's a stretch. No offense to Jagr or the Devils, but I think the possibility of trading a first round pick for a 42 year old player is lunacy. I don't care if it's the 30th pick in this draft. It's crazy. - madmike71
Being a 42 year old player means absolutely nothing when you're producing at the same rate as players 20 years younger than you. You either produce or you don't... |

Pouliot will be a regular next season, not sure on the other two if they will get time. All has to do with Martin and Hoff |

But he won't be able to produce for as long as a 20 year old will, or be as cheap as one while the are on ELC. Bridge deal brings them up to Jagr base salary $3.5 million. By the time a prospect hits that bridge deal, Jagr is in a retirement home already |

Right, and that is why he is a rental. The Pens don't have the assets to acquire an Alex Killorn or a Nino Niederreiter, but Jagr is a realistic target. Hypothetically, IF we were to give up Dumo or Harrington, those guys are in a logjam on D right now anyways, and whatever draft pick we would use is a total crap shoot anyways. 2nd round or not... that draft pick is going to take 4-5 years to develop. |

His playoff production has not been great for several years. 1 goal and 18 points in 34 playoff games the last three years (no playoffs last year). That's not worth a 1st. We got Perron for our 1st. 26 and signed for another year. |

If anyone is willing to trade Pouliot for Jagr, then you have a screw loose.
The Pens traded up in the draft to get him... Granted that was the old GM, but the same scouting staff. Their new coach spent 5 years with him and loves him. The team has been heavily invested for the better part of three seasons in his developement, and are as high on him as any prospect that we've seen since probably Staal.
Trade that for a 43 year old player who might fit in here, who will likely run out of gas again the playoffs, who might now have an ok relationship with an owner who holds grudges, who will require a decent player removed from the cap for him to fit, and who has a zero percent chance of resigning here for next season. |

Right, but seperate the teams he was on, Philly where he was playing with Giroux and Hartnell, 8 points in 11 games, primarily as a setup man. And Boston was a god awful fit for him. MJ's possession system is made for players like Jagr. |

We cant pay all of the young D-men prospects we have in the system, and keep Despres and Maatta; its just impossible. Scuds contract doesn't help either. |

I proposed Harrington for him, (and likely a mid pick too)... Harrington, who in my mind, is below Pouliot and Dumoulin.
But hey, I am on the Harrington Hate Train Express
