If acquiring Jagr means Horny is off the #1 PP unit, count me out. Dirty goals win in the playoffs kids, not 87, 71, 68, 39, and 58 passing the puck around the perimeter.
Now, if you're telling me he is willing to head up the #2 unit (which I doubt highly btw), I'm in. - 87_71_11_29
Why would Horny come off the first unit??
Maybe rotate Perron and Horny at absolute worst

1st rounder is a gross over payment unless that is all they get, no prospect. I would consider just a 1st, remember Angelo Espositoand Joe Morrow?? - nbartley9
But.. remember Brandon Saad? |

Not to mention, 87/71 and 68 all want to play the same position. That's got 0 for 30 written all over it. |

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see him making that kind of an impact. We already tried the aging superstar for a first and it blew up in their faces. Plus, the Pens don't have their first anyway. - madmike71
ah, well yeah, if you don't have a first that kind of quashes that idea. |

Maybe rotate Perron and Horny, Perron is not more effective than Jagr on the PP. |

The Kuni/Sid era is over, did you see Sid flipping shat on him during the Caps game? I am a huge Kuni fan but he has lost a step possibly 2 since the Olympics, which was sadly his last hoorah.
Jagr is still a world class talent, he is exactly what we need; and if it some how gets Sutturd out of here that's 2 birds one stone if you ask me. - nbartley9
I suggested this last season and got crucified for it. Now, folks are finally seeing it.
Kunitz is done. He's lost not one step but 2 steps.
I'm with you on #1 p*ssy. I want him gone too.
My ideal scenario for rest of season...
1. Get Winnik or a Winnik type player to fill out bottom 6.
2. Make a similar Goc/Max trade with Sutter where we get a comparable player back with 1 yr left on contract who isn't a p*ssy. Don't know if that dude exists anywhere, but that would be ideal. |

Hes still scoring just as well, just lost the body. Wanting a 60 point+ player gone is stupid. So instead, you now need someone, who may not score as much, but will beat the poop out of the other team or the goalie crease on the other wing with Malkin and Kunitz.
I heard a few reccomending Spaling there for the time being. He "technically" fits that description... Comeau will be an improvement there once he is back. We are still DEEP if we (frank)ing get healthy. |

Gotta have Perron's right shot for balance.
I want:
Perron on one wall, Malkin on other wall. Both for 1-timers. Letang up top. Horny's big ass in front of net. Sid down low.
Letang feeds 71 and 39 for bombs. Horny and Sid cleanup the garbage. |

None. Hasn't skated this week. Rumor has it that it's not long term, but the plan was to keep him off the ice this week. |

Couldn't agree more. Hornqvist is critical.....he should never be taken off of the first unit. |

I didn't say get rid of Kunitz this season in my post (I would have tried to move him this past off season where you still may have gotten something of value for him).
I'd definitely explore moving him this off season. Cant have both he and Duper on LT contracts in their upper 30's. Can have 1, not 2. |

If we get Jagr he has got to play half wall, otherwise its a total waste of the most talented half wall power play player in the game. |

That was a damn good trade to a team that desperately needs draft picks where Perron was not part of their future. Despite the age, if Douglass Murray can cost you 2 2nd rounders, I think a team desperate to win a Cup could give a 1st for one of the best puck possession player of all time. - jmatchett383
While I agree anything can happen, I wouldn't use horrendously bad trades that are more than likely outliers than par for the course as an example.
I for one say no to Jagr unless it's going to cost us a 2nd and Dumoulin or less. Which I doubt it will, but again, anything can happen. Even if we were to get Jagr for Dumoulin and a 2nd, we would have to somehow clear a crap ton of cap space in another deal, and that puts the Pens in an absolute must win scenario and tons of pressure on this team. If they were to trade for Jagr and then have no draft picks next year until the 4th rd and don't win the cup, wow talk about a disaster. |

The more I think about this, the more I think the only reason why this group wouldn't be a kick-ass PP group is if they refused to keep things simple. Those 5 have everything you want in a PP.
1. Left and right one timer bombs (39 and 71)
2. Slick point man (58)
3. Puck retrieval guy (87)
4. NFP (72)
Only weakness I'd say is their proclivity to give up short-handed chances in droves. |

I just don't see how he'd fit in with the #1 group.
If he's on that wall, what do you do with Malkin then? PLus, Jagr doesnt have the one timer Malkin has.
No way they bounce 71 and 87 to separate units (I'd love to do that btw...hell, Chicago does it with Kane and Toews).
That's the #1 reason why I doubt Jagr would come here. He knows he aint gonna get his PP preference. |

There in lies the problem. They don't need Jagr, they just need to put the puck on net and make things miserable for the goalie. It's interesting because that's exactly how they started the season. Now they just pass it around for 1:30. |

The Penguins are not getting Jagr.
1) He doesn't really have a fit
2) The Penguins don't have the assets required to acquire him compared to what other teams can offer
3) They don't (currently) have the cap space to add him.
If you want to have fun debating scenarios and proposals, that's fine. But it's not likely to happen. |

He is out for at least the next 2 games. He is eligible to come off LTIR either the 4th or 5th, so not sure if he would be able to play the Feb 4 game against Edmonton. |

Perrons not a net front guy. He'd be dead in a week.
Say they keep Horny on their, you'd lose Perron and your right shot from that side unless you truly kept 71 up top and used Letang there instead.
That just wreaks of shorthanded issues..... |
