That Oiler team was also much more loaded then this Pens team. Huge difference there. Geno won't get traded unless he wants to or something drastic happens, especially with Sids injury history. I am sure you also think Scuds is playing really well, same with Adams.

But Sill, Adams and Scuds get a pass why? Could name a bunch of players who have been really bad lately...but sit the skilled guy when you are having trouble scoring goals, just doesn't make sense to me.

Sill and adams are not expected to do more than they do. Scuds has been good most the year....u really wanna sit ur 3rd best defender that is currently avail. Furthermore beau hasnt hit or made a play in 5 games..flat out invisible. Unacceptable for someone getting second line minutes. When spaling looks better than u..ur in rough shape.

What the (frank) are Harrington and bortuzzo doing. Bortuzzo looked super weak and harrington needs to close off that wrap around

Not sure how you think Spailing has looked better, he has been horrible. If you think Scuds is the 3rd best dman on this team, then we have no reason to keep this convo going. Scuds shouldn't see the ice, at all...unless its on another roster.

Scuds is playing well...certainly better than harrington and borts...and arguably more important that DP right now. DP needs top d minutes to develop. He doesnt get that in pitts...thats in WBS. You just dont force the issue on offensive small d like him. So that leaves what....tanger and martin despres and scuds....top 4 that had the devils at 10 shots half way through the third.

Man this is how to play though....by far one of the best games they played all year....straight to the net constantly....imagine what kinda team we would have if we could turn malkin into this kinda player...ive always thought malkin was too east west compared to the rest of the team. He would garner a huge haul that could spread out the offence even more.

So much win in this post. Especially tonight, I'm seeing a commitment to simple, grinding play that, win or lose, they had to incorporate. I see a coach who has noted that the trap kills this team, and has them dumping and chasing and being pests in the paint and manufacturing chances and eventually a goal. Hornqvist mentioned that tonight's focus is to get the puck behind the defense in his intermission interview.

Puck possession is great. So is a spread passing game. But is the defense is playing cover 2, you better be able to run the ball if you want to win the game. Tonight I finally see a Penguins' coach pushing the idea of running the ball against the cover 2, and the roster tonight has bought into it.

It's great to see.

The lack of shots is more because of it being the Devils then because its what the Pens D is doing. Lets be honest, if they played a team with any type of offensive pulse, this game would be over already. DP would be fine getting a regular NHL shift, if thats bottom pairing so be it. Dressing Scuds does nothing, and when everyone is healthy...Scuds should be in the box, his play was soooo bad last year, that below avg play makes him look good.

He was awful last year...he was seriously hurt too. This year his game is far from that..and doesnt deserve the flak he gets here. Period.

he deserves every bit of it when he plays bad. Just like every other player on that roster. Like I said, one good game out of 5 doesn't make him good, just makes him better than last year, and thats not saying a lot.
