What about a deal where the Penguins trade a kind of bad contract, like Kunitz or Scuderi, as part of a packkage to L.A. for a very bad contract in Mike Richards and one of Pearson or Tiffoli? - Johnny Wrath
Like it.... Though supposedly that's what leafs offered.

Toews and Kane will both be making 10.5 million next year - Dcoms
Should have traded Kane, built the empire around Toews. |

Not sure if this was discussed today but did you guys see the Arizona GM say everything is on the table (except Doan).
Boedker, Hanzal, and Vermette are very intriguing. - YouMeAndDupuis9
Id ship Sutter, BB, Scuds, Martin, Dumo, Harrington and Pouliott if it makes this team stronger.

I like them all. Specially Hanzal, but he's a 2nd C and expensive. I'd be OK If we traded Sutter + for Boedker or Vermette. |

Hanzal would be such a perfect 3rd C for us. Trading Sutter I think would need to be as part of package to get an upgrade at 3rd C, I feel. As much as I feel Sutter is way overrated, we can't expect anything internal to be an adequate 3rd C this year (Spaling, Lapierre, Sundqvist).
I really like Boedker too....I know we want to get "tougher" but I'm trying to keep the same view I had since last postseason exit.....scoring is priority #1. Boedker is one of the few guys I think I'd trade Kapanen for. Tough call though. |

FWIW, I really like these 4th line --> 1st line charts. It's so simply that a dummy like me does't have to think about exactly what each stat means.

No one has any long term vision. You know the Pittsburgh Penguins will still exist in 5 years, 10 years, and so on right? If you trade away the players that will be your best players farther down the road then it will 2001 all over again, and it was really hard being a fan of this team back then. I always pick the Pens when I play any kind of NHL video game have since they had the actual players in the games from like 93 or so. When I had NHL 2002 and I was the Pens it was hard to beat my friends, no matter how drunk we got, because Rico Fata is not a good player. And NHL Hitz for Xbox, we wore that game out, the Pens team on there, not so fun to be. The point is no matter how old I get i want to be the Penguins and I want the Penguins to have good players so I can beat my friends teams, even when we're all sitting in a nursing home. So stop trying to sell our future down the river hoping something better will float it's way back, because just like in life, it NEVER does. |

Definitely. Hanzal is a good two way C. Boedker seems like a perfect Fit for Geno. I'd try to bring him even If it meant trading Kunitz in order to get another Young wing. Hörnqvist and Perron's acquisitions were everything we've waited for. Boedker would be awesome too. |

Not a fan of benching bennett. He needs to play given his amount of injuries. If he's not producing on the 2nd line, simply slide him to the 3rd. It's obivous he's not ready for the top 6. |

He has such a great chemistry with Sutter and Downie. I'd leave him on the 3rd line just to maximize Sutter's game. Comeau on Geno's line is a no brainer. |

The guy has spent his whole career on the shelf and hes finally healthy for a stretch of games. Just growing more frustrated with MJ's personnel decisions lately.. |

Problem is they have no use for Kunitz.
Kunitz could go to like Anaheim for Beauchemin or something I guess...even though I dont see why Anaheim would do it. Best bet might be like Kunitz for a younger roster player on a team really wanting to make a run. Not advocating a Kunitz trade, btw, just thinking out loud.
Sutter, Harrington, Kapanen, 2nd for Hanzal and Boedker. edit -- oops, not going to work with the cap
A lot of pieces to give up but also these are younger guys who could stay around a while. |

Why is Harringotn playing tonight an not Pouliot...especially with Ehrhoff out...grrr
