Please no. - systemtool
LOL - I know...I'd take a C too. I think moving Phaneuf, getting out from the contract and being bad the next 2-3 years (on purpose) is what they need to do. I love how all of a sudden Phaneuf is referred to as the "Leafs best defenseman by a wide margin" by the trolls now. |

Everyone has their own opinions but trading JVR would be a stupid move. And a waste of time for the leafs. Focus on the problems. - Santo_44

not sure why people ask Augello for his insight on the Leafs... he's a fan, nothing more. - DoubleDown
Mike retweets interesting tweets he sees for Leaf fan followers. He is a good guy and does a great job here. He shouldn't get any flack for it. |

nobody is untouchable, but JVR to me is the best player on the roster..if you take speed, skill, size hockey IQ, he is the best all around player we have.. |

Exactly. At least the blogger named after a tasty ground beef grilled sandwich was actuallyin the scrums...he may as well have said "they'll go with the best available player at their draft position". |

I don't think the Leafs can get to 3. I think we are going to be either 4, 5 or 6.
Strome is going to be our target, and hard. - mcleafs

gotta wonder if that's Horachek's mandate. starting Bernier last night makes me think that. otherwise he's a stupid, stupid hockey coach. - DoubleDown
the only plausible explanation for Bernier getting back-to-backs with the way he's been playing was to clearly test his "robustness" and "mental strength".
otherwise, you are right... doesn't make sense.
and he did a great job of showcasing his "mental strength" last night |

exactly, slap the C on a guy with character.. not some sort of pseudo over inflated hyped up skill set that doesnt really exsist - Dozzer
I don't think I would put the C on anyone. Just have 3 A's until you find that true leader and guy deserving of wearing it. Habs are pulling it off just fine. |

Ahh ok, thanks for clearing that up. So he's burning a year this year as well already?
Also, some may say I'm crazy, but I think Rielly is our best overall Dman, and it's not close. People like to point out the youth mistakes he makes, and I'll grant that, but his highs are unreal and he is continually getting better.
He needs to be on the top pair next year. - mcleafs
ELC is overhyped a bit. RFA years are more important and he hasn't burned any of those yet and probably won't next year either.
Rielly - I think the next 30+ games will be good for him. He has more support from the forwards now and he seems to be starting to find a better balance in terms of when to attack with his speed. |

You know what "transcibe" means right? It is verbatim repeating in text format what respected hockey personalities say in radio interviews. That is not opinion, that is dictation. When you start throwing in "I think the Leafs shoud do X", that's an opinion, which I have no use for from that fellow. Like reading his interview transcriptions, not his thoughts on 3rd D-pairings. In no way do any of those statements contradict themselves. |

I agree no one is untouchable. But there are players on every team that you have to overpay a lot to get. That's what untouchable means to me |

I would gues that Peter Deboer will be a frunt runner for head coach next year - Popcorn Kid
well there's a new approach... take a retread coach from other teams.
maybe, just maybe... if there is a rebuild with a bunch of young/younger guys.. perhaps a coach from the AHL or junior hockey who understands how to deal with today's young players (hint - there might be one already as an assistant on the Leafs staff).
actually, I like what I've seen from Horachek. He has been dealt a real crap hand and hasn't thrown anyone under the bus yet... |

To burn an RFA year you have to play a full year in the N right? And UFA status is age 27 or 7 years in the N, whichever comes first correct? |

It's kind of confusing but maybe if you have won twice in the last five years it's reduced significantly. |
