If you want to keep Polak because he is a leader then why not Robidas? Everyone only says the best things about him and his character, ethic and leadership on the ice and in the locker room
- PinkSock

Robidas is good in the room.

Polak is good in the room and on the ice.

I thought if you're under 20 it slides for the year? Am I incorrect?

Slide rule only applies to "junior" hockey. Doesn't apply to AHL or to overseas.

I honestly don't know. My guess is a 1st, a solid prospect and a 3rd line roster player.

I just think he would be hard to replace, and isn't hurting this team, but also can help it. Good on the cap, which is hard to find.

JVR is the type of guy you trade only if there's going to be an overpayment. he's not a guy that should be traded as part of a culture change...

Not that it would be a bad deal but who replaces Phaneuf? I hate the guy too but he's your best dman by a large margin.
- Iggysbff

I'm not sure the Leafs want to replace Phaneuf this year...Hanifin at #3 potentially?

Best thing to do is keep him unless there is an overpayment.

Its complicated but you could be correct. He may slide.

In the event that an 18 year old or 19 year old Player signs an SPC with a Club but does not play at least ten (10) NHL Games in the first season under that SPC, the term of his SPC and his number of years in the Entry Level System shall be extended for a period of one (1) year, except that this automatic extension will not apply to a Player who is 19 according to Section 9.2 by virtue of turning 20 between September 16 and December 31 in the year in which he first signs an SPC. Unless a Player and Club expressly agree to the contrary, in the event a Player's SPC is extended an additional year in accordance with this subsection, all terms of the SPC, with the exception of Signing Bonuses, but including Paragraph 1 Salary, games played bonuses and Exhibit 5 bonuses, shall be extended; provided, however, that the Player's Paragraph 1 Salary shall be extended in all circumstances.

Ahh ok, thanks for clearing that up. So he's burning a year this year as well already?

Also, some may say I'm crazy, but I think Rielly is our best overall Dman, and it's not close. People like to point out the youth mistakes he makes, and I'll grant that, but his highs are unreal and he is continually getting better.

He needs to be on the top pair next year.

I probably would move JVR for another ticket in the lotto, whole first line goes, and I also waive Phils brother from the minors and send him packing too

I don't think the Leafs can get to 3. I think we are going to be either 4, 5 or 6.

Strome is going to be our target, and hard.

Everyone has their own opinions but trading JVR would be a stupid move. And a waste of time for the leafs. Focus on the problems.

If he is around next season, he would be choice one for the C, depending on who else is brought in, if Winnik is kept, choice number 2.
- LeafMan

exactly, slap the C on a guy with character.. not some sort of pseudo over inflated hyped up skill set that doesnt really exist
